How to Craft

Play How to Fish as Minecraft's Steve. Steve's skin, the items, blocks, armor, HUD, font and sounds all come from your own Minecraft: Java Edition, so nothing is copied.

Survival as Steve

• Minecraft hearts, hunger and armor bars replace How to Fish's HUD. Your money stays in the corner.
• Hunger drains the Minecraft way. At 3 drumsticks or fewer you can't sprint. Eat How to Fish's fish to refill it.
• Hostile fish (piranhas, mantas, the whale, the pufferfish) bite for 2 hearts.
• Minecraft air: 15 seconds of bubbles underwater, then drowning at 1 heart per second.
• Armor works exactly like Minecraft's: armor points, toughness and durability.
• Die and you get Minecraft's "You Died!" screen with a Respawn button.

Creative inventory (E) Every item is free: 50 blocks, all swords, tools and armor sets, a bow and arrows, and the fishing rod.

Fight and fish

• Swords hit How to Fish's creatures hard: wooden 10, stone 75, iron and gold 150, diamond 250, netherite 500. A fully drawn bow hits for 250.
• Kills earn kill score and raise a fish's price as usual.
• The fishing rod looks like Minecraft's but casts, reels and catches How to Fish's fish, with How to Fish's bait system. Your bait sits in the off-hand slot.

Build Place blocks with right click and break them by holding left click, with vanilla break times. The island itself never changes, and your blocks are saved with each world.

F5 shows Steve in third person, wearing your armor. Everything else in How to Fish works as usual.

Needs: How to Fish and Minecraft: Java Edition 1.20.2 or newer, launched at least once. Single player.
