Cast your line in How to Fish and you might reel in a Combat Master weapon instead of a fish, then use it to chain killstreaks all the way to a tactical nuke.
Fishing for weapons
- About half of all bites hook a weapon instead of a fish, and the sniper rifle is the single most common catch. Pistol, knife, SMG, shotgun, assault rifle and brass knuckles turn up too. Bosses are never replaced.
- Backpack: a green pack that takes one inventory slot and opens 10 more slots while you carry it. A starter Backpack drops in front of you a few seconds after you start, the third bite of a session brings one up if you have none, and it's a common catch after that. Look for "Backpack [E]" on the ground and press E.
Real Combat Master weapons
- The weapons wear Combat Master models, loaded straight from your own Combat Master install: Desert Eagle, AUG, Mac-10, KSG, Barrett, and a katana for the knife. Brass knuckles keep How to Fish's own look. The hands line up with each gun's grip.
- Aim down sights, every gun uses its own sight:
- Sniper (Barrett): a scope view with 6x zoom, a round lens and Combat Master's mil-dot reticle.
- AUG: an optic view with 3.5x zoom, a round lens and its ACOG reticle.
- Shotgun (KSG): a holo sight at 1x with its reticle dot (holo sights don't magnify).
- Pistol and SMG: iron sights at 1x, with the rear sight on your crosshair.
- Looking through a scope or optic hides the gun and hands and the HUD.
Killstreaks (every creature you kill counts; resets when you die or after 25 s)
- 3 kills: BLOODLUST, a faster sprint for 15 seconds
- 5 kills: UAV ONLINE, every creature outlined through walls and water for 30 seconds
- 8 kills: CARE PACKAGE, a parachuting weapon crate drops near you (host only in co-op)
- 12 kills: TACTICAL NUKE, a white-out flash, every creature on the map dies, and each is worth 3x when sold
Combat Master-style movement and no stamina worries
- Faster walk and sprint, a higher jump, a more forgiving coyote jump, and a sprint-slide (sprint, then crouch).
- How to Fish has no stamina bar, so "unlimited stamina" here means your hunger never drops (the host keeps everyone fed) and you can swim-jump forever.
Co-op: use How to Fish's own Steam lobbies, up to 8 players. Everyone needs the mashup installed to see the Combat Master weapons, the Backpack and the killstreaks.
You need both How to Fish and Combat Master installed. Nothing from Combat Master is copied or uploaded.
Known rough edges (v0.3.6): the weapons are fitted automatically, so the pistol and SMG sit chunky and close to the camera and their iron-sight pictures are rougher than the scoped guns. Co-op clients get their own streaks, but the Care Package drops only for the host.
