Skyrim, played as Sonic. Not a costume: the Dragonborn moves like a hedgehog, and Sonic Mania's own sounds and music play from your own copy of the game.
What it does
- Speed. The player runs several times faster than a sprint, with a taller jump, while Sonic mode is on (it is on from the first frame; F8 toggles it and Skyrim's own values come back when it goes off).
- Spin dash. Hold Left Ctrl on the ground to charge — the HUD shows the charge filling — then release to fire off in the direction you are facing.
- Homing attack. Jump, then press Left mouse with a creature in front. The lock picks the nearest live hostile, and the HUD draws a reticle on it; the arrival hits it for real damage.
- Rings instead of plain health. A hit scatters up to 10 rings and you carry on with what is left, with a moment of invulnerability. With no rings, the hit lands exactly as it always did. Kills pay a ring (dragons and giants pay five more) and picking up loose gold is worth one.
- Mania audio. Green Hill fades in as you build speed, and jump, ring, scatter, charge, release, skid, destroy and hurt sounds play in Mania's own voice.
- The ring counter is a real HUD panel drawn over Skyrim's frame, using Sonic Mania's own ring sprite.
No game content included
Nothing from Sonic Mania is shipped or copied. The mod opens your installed game's own Data.rsdk at run time, reads the files it needs straight out of the pack (they are encrypted inside it, and stay that way — nothing is written back), and plays them. Skyrim runs entirely off its own files too.
Requirements
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition 1.7.104 — the plugin resolves engine addresses through the address library, so it is built for that version.
- Sonic Mania, installed on the same PC, for the music, sounds and ring sprite.
Melty installs the Ultimate ASI Loader, the plugin and the address library data itself: press Play and you are Sonic. Single player.
