Remix of SkyCraft: Dual Mode by SouLGnome, based on the MIT-licensed SkyCraft by chasmlol.
0.1.19 is an experimental build with automatic Aether II setup. On the first Minecraft launch, pinned public sources and build tools are downloaded directly from their respective providers and compiled privately on your PC. An internet connection and several minutes of setup time are required. Aether assets are not redistributed through Melty. The current build has not yet been confirmed in-game.
Fixes in 0.1.19
- Aether's large texture atlas now fits through the render channel. The maximum single message
grows from about 32 to 64 MiB; the Aether atlas observed needs about 50.6 MB.
- A failed upload no longer resets the world every frame. The atlas stays
cached; errors are retried a limited number of times. This fixes repeated world/collision
resets and expensive atlas rebuilds as the cause of stutter and overlapping rendering.
- Both bridge halves use protocol 19 and must be updated and restarted
together. Character animations get normal motion data again.
- The automatic Aether II setup from 0.1.18 is included. Atomically replacing existing
setup proofs is fixed for Windows PowerShell 5.1.
- The same atlas bug blocked render confirmation for stored Minecraft replacement trees.
After a successful atlas upload, their meshes/collisions and confirmations are transferred again;
only then are the corresponding nearby Skyrim trees hidden.
Fixes in 0.1.18
- Melty now ships with automatic setup of the Aether II community port for Minecraft 26.3.
On the first Minecraft launch, Prism downloads the exactly pinned public sources for
Aether II, Nitrogen, and Cumulus, as well as Forge Config API Port, directly from their providers.
- A full Java 25 JDK and Gradle are also downloaded directly from their providers when needed.
The sources are compiled privately on your PC. An internet connection, several minutes, and additional
storage space are needed on the first launch. Aether assets and locally built Aether JARs are
not redistributed in the Melty archives; only our setup script,
the provenance file, and our build adjustments are included. The original license notices are preserved.
- Setup runs before Minecraft's mod detection. Sources and tools are pinned by SHA-256 checksums.
Only a complete result replaces the four addons. If something fails, the existing
installation is kept and launch stops with a log. Successful subsequent launches check
the installed files and skip the build.
- F8 remains the shared inventory. F8 → Dimensions → Aether II opens the Aether selection.
From other dimensions, F6 first safely takes you back to the entry point.
- All features from 0.1.17 are still included. The bridge continues to use protocol 18.
Survival Expansion from 0.1.12
As of 0.1.16, the Minecraft food bar shows survival hunger/saturation. The survival hunger bar shows the same fill level. Additional bars show thirst, cold,
fatigue, and heat stress. Skyrim provides the official hunger, cold, and fatigue values;
SkyCraft adds jointly saved thirst, hydration reserve, wetness, and heat.
Enable the official Skyrim Survival Mode in the game settings once it is available.
When the mode is disabled, the extra display shows that state; survival actions don't change
inactive Skyrim needs. Eating, drinking, and sleeping actions use saved request numbers
so that a repeated message doesn't trigger the same effect again.
- Minecraft food you actually eat also reduces Skyrim hunger. You can eat even with a
hunger display that rounds to full if Skyrim still reports hunger.
- Minecraft beds let connected players rest even during the day. Skyrim fatigue is only reduced after a completed,
actually counted sleep phase. 60 seconds in bed equal one hour of rest; it is transferred when you get up. This does not skip any Skyrim calendar hours.
- Custom water bottles, water qualities, juices, insulating/cooling clothing, and temperature devices
expand the Minecraft side. They belong to the SkyCraft Survival tab in the creative inventory.
- Skyrim provides the climate; fire, water, placed Minecraft devices, and Minecraft clothing add to
the stress. The artificial biomes and heights of the Minecraft mirror world don't determine the climate.
- Skyrim applies the physical consequences; Minecraft doesn't inflict the same survival damage a
second time. The local host is a prerequisite for this integration.
This expansion was written independently with its own resources. The provided
Tough-As-Nails JAR for Minecraft 1.21.6 is not loaded or copied into the Minecraft 26.3 packages.
Using Survival Items
In the creative inventory, you'll find the new SkyCraft Survival tab. In survival, all 29 items
are craftable: six canteens, three water qualities, seven juices, eight pieces of clothing, a thermometer,
and four devices. Thermal Tuning and Water Cleansing are custom enchantments.
- F8: Put an item on the mouse cursor and click Use at the bottom. This drinks a beverage,
eats regular food, puts on your own survival clothing, or reads the thermometer. Both
control modes access the same state.
- Canteens: Right-click to drink; sneak + right-click on real Minecraft water to fill.
Cauldrons or rain collectors are other sources. A Skyrim water surface is not automatically
treated as a verified Minecraft fill source.
- Rain collector: It collects water during Skyrim rain under open sky. Operate it with a canteen or
glass bottle; a water bucket fills it manually.
- Water purifier: Insert charcoal as a filter, then use dirty water or a filled
canteen. Filter charges are consumed.
- Thermoregulator: Coal/charcoal/blaze powder warm, snow/ice cool. Supply is consumed;
the effect is limited to the vicinity. The thermometer and temperature display show Skyrim's climate.
- Protective clothing: Wool insulates, leaves cool. Purified water provides more hydration reserve.
Dirty water carries a risk of temporarily increased thirst.
The devices and clothing remain Minecraft content. Their survival effect is applied in Skyrim;
they don't create new native Skyrim item forms. If the Minecraft connection is missing,
SkyCraft's additional stress effects pause. Official Skyrim survival keeps running on its own.
Saving: The SKSE installation saves SkyCraft needs in the associated supplementary save file.
The Melty ASI launch uses one atomic file per game generation. When loading older Skyrim saves,
ASI therefore can't reset the supplementary values exactly to the earlier point in time. Unclear requests
stay locked instead of changing needs again on a restart. Both engines save separately; even an SKSE supplementary save and the Minecraft action file don't form an atomic shared save.
Carried-Over Fixes from 0.1.11
- F8 storage and mouse cursor are also visible with Skyrim controls; the initial mouse position matches the display.
- F11/F12 are available in both control modes. Skyrim spells are prepared and cast normally with a temporarily equipped spell hand; the previous equipment is restored afterward.
- Large Minecraft stacks are no longer rejected when saving because of the old limit of 99. This also applies to items in containers and loaded projectiles; the maximum remains 2,147,483,647.
Minecraft in Skyrim
Minecraft movement, HUD, blocks, crafting, water, lava, and combat in Skyrim's world. You can mine the ground and detected objects; placed blocks, holes, and explosions are saved in the Minecraft mirror world. Minecraft weapons hit Skyrim NPCs. Fighting, equipment, and crafting train Skyrim skills. Scripted Skyrim scenes keep their own controls.
- F6: Switch between Minecraft and Skyrim controls for the same Skyrim character.
- F7: Open Skyrim's original inventory.
- F8: Shared storage with 500 slots, accessible in both control modes. Put Minecraft items in and take them back out; transfer supported stacks into the native Skyrim inventory via the sword icon, up to 64 per operation.
- F10 in the Skyrim inventory: Put selected eligible items into the shared storage. Equipped, quest, enchanted, or individual instances stay in the original inventory.
- G: Use Skyrim doors/activators and transfer supported loose loot, corpses, and containers to Minecraft. Minecraft weapons and tools sever detected rope/tripwire targets.
- O → Save now: Manually save the Minecraft mirror world and storage. Skyrim still uses its own save function.
- E: Minecraft inventory, T: chat, F5: Minecraft camera.
Items and Equipment
236 representative Skyrim-inspired item depictions, 15 material palettes, and eight spell icons are included in the mod; no separate resource pack needs to be enabled. These are custom stylized icons, not a full copy of Skyrim assets and not a conversion of worn armor meshes.
Weapons and armor receive Minecraft-appropriate attributes. A full iron set gives 15 armor points, high-tier sets up to 20. Original name, original Skyrim values, and, for new imports, the form ID remain saved. Old proxies are switched to the new values; they lack the form ID, which was never saved originally.
Normal Minecraft swords, axes, bows, arrows, armor slots, shield, bread, iron/gold ingots, diamond, and leather use verified Skyrim base counterparts. Additional Minecraft data such as enchantments, names, and container contents is not silently deleted: such items, or unsupported ones, stay in Minecraft. Transferring new Skyrim proxies back uses their original form.
Minecraft equipment is repaired continuously. Minecraft stacks can hold a maximum of 2,147,483,647. Skyrim's own stack limits remain unchanged. A new Skyrim game selects a fresh Minecraft mirror world; previous worlds are preserved.
Magic, Level, and HUD
- F11: Show learned Skyrim spells and all 18 skills. Pages for more spells; a button to Skyrim's original skills menu for perks and leveling up.
- F12: Request the selected learned spell through Skyrim's normal caster. Skyrim's cost and Magicka check remains active. Concentration spells use bursts of roughly 0.75 seconds per keypress.
- The HUD shows Skyrim level, XP progress, Magicka, and Stamina. Native confirmation triggers a matching color animation, spell icon, and Minecraft hand movement; the installed Skyrim carries out Skyrim's effects.
- Health: Skyrim's health fraction is mapped to Minecraft's maximum hearts. In Minecraft mode, Minecraft damage and healing are transferred back as confirmed changes.
- Hunger and Stamina: With the official survival mode active, the normal Minecraft food bar and the survival hunger display show the same saturation level. Eating follows the confirmed survival request. Stamina remains a separate Skyrim resource and isn't changed by the food bar. Without a fresh active survival state, Minecraft's normal hunger mechanic stays active.
Skyrim is the authority for level, XP, and learned spells. Minecraft XP orbs don't grant additional Skyrim levels. The RPG/vitals bridge is implemented for the local single-player host. Powers, shouts, abilities, dual-handed/location-targeted spells, and spell effects on Minecraft mobs are not ported.
Requirements and Limitations
You need Skyrim Special Edition Runtime 1.7.104 and Minecraft: Java Edition. Melty installs Ultimate ASI Loader and the portable Prism companion and uses your own Minecraft login. Prism downloads Minecraft 26.3, Java 25, and Fabric Loader; Fabric API, e4mc, and SkyCraft are included.
The Minecraft side includes multiplayer support for up to 100 players. Everyone has their own Skyrim with their own NPCs, quests, and saves. Hosting/joining with two instances is untested in 0.1.11; automatic Melty joining is not configured. The new inventory/RPG bridges are local.
Both engines save separately. The transfer journal prevents blind retries but doesn't make their saves atomic; an interrupted, unclear transfer stays reserved. Loading an older Skyrim save doesn't automatically restore its matching Minecraft world. The scripted Helgen intro can block input. Managed tree and underground cells are saved separately by Skyrim area; free entities and structures outside these cells remain shared.
Original remix: https://melty.gg/m/skycraft-dual-mode. Original project: https://github.com/chasmlol/skycraft. The MIT license, Prism license, and third-party notices, including Address Library, remain included. Skyrim assets, Minecraft game binaries, and personal account data are not shipped.
The tree swap affects nearby loaded Skyrim trees. Distant Skyrim LOD trees are still visible.
