Cuptoral Carnage adds Cuphead and Mugman, and Sonic from Sonic Mania, to Electoral Carnage's roster as full fighters. Pick them on the character select screen and fight the CPU, or a friend sitting at the same PC.
Every frame of them is the real thing: the mashup reads Cuphead's own hand-drawn animation and Sonic Mania's own pixel art and sounds from your installed copies while the game runs. Nothing from any of the games is included in the download.
The kit
Charge Shot (Cuphead's Special): hold to charge, release to fire. Keep running and jumping while you charge; firing never stops you. Let go early and the shot stuns, just like Robo Teddy's uncharged shot. Hold to full charge and it does damage.
Roundabout (Cuphead's second weapon): each press throws a shot straight ahead that slows, turns and flies back past him, hitting on the way out or the way back. A wait between throws.
Lobber (Mugman's Special): each press lobs a bomb in an arc that bounces along the floor and does damage when it hits. Throw as many as you like, with a wait between lobs.
Peashooter (Mugman's second weapon): works like Jackson's pistol, minus the ammo count. A quick pea, on the ground or in the air, that stuns for a moment so you can follow up. Keep running and jumping while you shoot.
Weapon swap: Down + Special swaps between your two weapons any time, and the weapon's icon pops up over your head, just like mid-fight in Cuphead.
Finger-Gun Poke (Attack, on the ground): a quick close-range jab that does damage, with a small Charge EX burst drawn exactly over the area it hits.
Parry Axe (Attack, in the air): the Whetstone parry, axe drawings and axe sound from Cuphead. It does damage and knocks projectiles out of the air.
Mid-air turning: push the stick the other way in the air and you turn around, any time. No weapon ever slows or stops you.
Smoke Dash (Movement): vanish in a puff of smoke and reappear a short way off. Nothing can hit you while you are smoke. Once per jump in the air.
Two supers, picked on the character select screen like every other fighter's:
Energy Beam (6 stars): Super Art I, a huge beam across the stage that ends the round if it connects. It only hits where the beam has actually reached.
Giant Ghost (5 stars): Super Art III. Your soul leaves as a giant ghost and hunts your opponent for 7 seconds while you keep fighting. Every time it catches them it does 2 damage and knocks them back, up to 5 times. The ghost is knocked back by its own hits too, so it cannot pin anyone in a corner. It fades if you take a hit, and you gain no super meter while it is out.
Sonic (from Sonic Mania, if you own it)
Spin Dash (Attack, on the ground): hold to rev, let go to launch. A short rev stuns; a full rev does damage.
Insta-Shield (Attack, in the air): hits all around him and swats projectiles away.
Shields (Special): Fire dashes forward in flames, Lightning jumps, Bubble dives down and bounces back up. One shield move, then land. Down + Special swaps shield, with Mania's item-box icon popping up and the shield flashing around him.
Super Peel-Out (Movement, on the ground) and Spring Jump (Movement, in the air): a spring launches him up toward the opponent, then drops, spinning, and does damage if it lands on them.
Super Sonic (6 stars): gold for 8 seconds. Nothing can hurt him, he runs faster, and every hit does 1 extra damage.
Rings scatter when he's hit, his taunt is the foot-tap, and when he's knocked out he falls off the bottom of the screen.
When he leads a match, a Mania title card (ELECTORAL CARNAGE ZONE, ACT 1) and the Competition announcer's "Three, two, one, Go!" open the round. When he wins: "The winner is... Sonic!"
Cuphead touches
When Cuphead or Mugman is in a local match, the round opens the Cuphead way: the announcer's opening line, then the READY? WALLOP! card in place of the Debate card, with Cuphead's own voice lines read from your copy of Cuphead.
Cuphead's own sounds on every move: the charge, shots, lobs, dash, jumps, hits, both supers and the announcer's "A knockout!" with the KNOCKOUT! card when a round ends.
Knocked out, a brother turns into his ghost and floats up off the screen, just like in Cuphead.
Taunts for both brothers, shown the same size as the fighters, each with its own silly sound. Taunts follow Electoral Carnage's own taunt unlock, like every other fighter's.
What you need
Electoral Carnage (free on Steam)
Cuphead (your own copy, installed)
Sonic Mania (optional, your own copy): without it, Sonic simply isn't on the roster
Good to know
This mashup is for one PC and has no online multiplayer: fight the CPU, or share the PC with someone beside you on the game's own versus screen. The new fighters are not added to the game's online matches.
