Important!! Must start new game (the first time only: saves you make while playing with this mod load normally after that)
Start at character creation in Riverwood with a sword and 25 gold.
Skyrim's melee, in first person, now plays like Chivalry 2: its attack animations, its combos, its hit timing, its keys, its rules, and its sounds. The animations and sounds are read from your own copy of Chivalry 2. Nothing from either game is copied or shipped.
What changes in a fight
- Chivalry 2's swings. Slash, overhead, stab and jab play Chivalry 2's own first-person animations on your arms, and NPCs swing with its third-person animations. One-handed swords, daggers, war axes and maces swing like its one-handed sword (as Chivalry 2's own daggers and maces do); greatswords like its greatsword; battleaxes and warhammers like its maul.
- Chivalry 2's combos. Press another attack during a swing and it flows straight into the next one through Chivalry 2's own transitions, alternating its two versions of each swing. NPCs chain their swings the same way.
- Chivalry 2's guard and parry. Between swings your arms hold Chivalry 2's guard for your weapon, and holding block raises its parry. Two-handed weapons are held with both hands where Chivalry 2 holds them.
- Your body in first person. Look down and you see your own legs, torso and armor under your arms.
- Chivalry 2's hit. A swing lands at its Chivalry 2 blow, on whoever the blade actually passes through. A slash can catch two people, and a blade that touches nobody misses.
- Blood where you cut. Blood sprays the way the blade was moving and marks the NPC's skin and armor along the cut: three marks for a slash or overhead, one for a stab.
- Chivalry 2's keys. Slash on left mouse, parry on right mouse, overhead on wheel down, stab on wheel up, jab on F, kick on middle mouse, battle cry on C, throw on G, quickstep on V, sprint on Left Shift. First person only, like Chivalry 2: no view toggle, no kill camera.
- Alt attacks. Hold Left Alt (or use Mouse 5 / Mouse 4) and the attack starts from Chivalry 2's Alt swing; combos alternate from there.
- Quickstep. V steps you sideways or back, out of a blade's way. NPCs quickstep away from your heavy wind-ups now and then.
- Voice wheel. Hold X, flick the mouse, release: Charge!, Follow me!, Hold!, Help!, Retreat!, Respect, Laugh or Taunt, in your voice. Your followers obey the commands, and taunts turn nearby enemies on you.
- Pick your voice. F6 opens a menu of 25 Chivalry 2 voices: Mason and Agatha Knight, Footman, Vanguard and Archer, 13 characters and 4 female voices.
- Low-health heartbeat. Chivalry 2's heartbeat starts below 30% health and grows louder as you near death.
- Attacks with weight. The overhead hits for 1.2x and the stab for 0.8x, both quick regular attacks; the jab is a fast left hook (0.35x) with a small stagger.
- Timed parries. Raise your block just before the blow lands: it's negated, the attacker staggers and you get a riposte window, where your next hit does 1.5x damage and can't be parried.
- Kicks, battle cries and weapon throws, and NPCs fight the same way: they parry, riposte, feint, jab, kick you when you turtle and charge you.
- Creatures keep Skyrim's combat. Wolves, bears and the like fight exactly as in vanilla.
- No stamina drain in this version.
Sounds from Chivalry 2
Each Skyrim weapon type gets a Chivalry 2 weapon's sounds: arming sword, dagger, horseman axe, mace, greatsword, heavy axe and maul. You get its swings, riposte "shing", parry clangs and stagger impacts, plus Chivalry 2's flesh, chop and blunt impacts. You speak with the voice you pick (Mason Knight to start) and human enemies as Agatha knights, with grunts, pain, death cries and taunts.
Good to know
- Single player.
- Needs Skyrim Special Edition / Anniversary Edition 1.6.1170 or newer (including 1.7.104) and Chivalry 2 installed on the same PC. Chivalry 2 is never started or changed: its files are only read.
- Before the first start, Melty runs a one-time converter that reads the animations from your Chivalry 2 and fits them to Skyrim's skeletons, on your PC.
- Every number and key (damage per attack, parry window, blade tracing, combos, grip, NPC chances, volume, wheel and menu keys) is in
Data/SKSE/Plugins/ChivalrySkyrim.ini, so you and other mods can retune it.
