Escape the Backrooms in Minecraft. Wake up in Level 0 with nothing, then scavenge, craft and survive your way through 37 levels: thirty-one of Escape the Backrooms' real levels and six custom ones. Play alone or with up to 3 friends, all the way to The End. The run saves at the start of every level.
MineRooms is a mashup of Minecraft: Java Edition (you play in Minecraft) and Escape the Backrooms (its levels, entities, items and sounds). Nothing from Escape the Backrooms is included. The mod reads it from your own installed copy while it runs, so you need both games.
The run
0 → 0.11 → 1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 5.2* → Fun =) → 37 → 6 → 7 → 8 → 34* → 9 → 10 → 11* → 33* → 3999 → 0.2 → The Snackrooms → !-! → 94 → 188 → 37.2 → Fun+ → 52 → 55.1 → 60* → 922 → 974 → Overgrowth → The Grassrooms → 421 → 68* → ! → The End (* custom)
A new layout every run. Some highlights:
- Level 0, The Lobby: endless yellow rooms, and the Bacteria in the halls.
- Level 1, Habitable Zone: dark garage floors lined with dead cars, Smilers waiting where the lights are out.
- Level 2, Pipe Dreams: Hounds hunt by sound, and flashlights blind them.
- Level 5.2, Scenic Views (custom): open-air galleries of room doors at night, floor after floor above and below, across a long drop. Pull the fire alarms to unlock the stairs, but the Skin-Stealer hears them.
- Level 7, Thalassophobia: row across a wide night sea, past broken piers and an old rig, to the lighthouse. Two big things live down there.
- Level 33, The Dead Mall (custom, hard): throw three breakers to unlock the exits, one of them on an island where two Anglers swim.
- The Snackrooms: a safe old bar full of supplies, where your sanity comes back.
- Level !-!: a hall only two wide, with a Smiler right behind you. Hide in the blue rooms.
- Level 94, The Animated Town: a sunny town until the siren sounds and the Animated King comes out.
- Level 60, The Baywalk (custom): a railed walk over black water, lamp posts far apart, Smilers waiting in the dark between.
- Level 974, Kitty's House: Kitty leaves gifts for people she likes. Don't bring a crowbar near her.
- The Grassrooms: keep moving or the vines take hold.
- Level 421, The Plastic Mariana: wade across a sea of plastic balls while a shark circles.
- Level 68, The Eater (custom): an old theater where the Eater only moves while nobody is looking.
- Level !, Run For Your Life: RUN. Then a quiet library and the blind Scratcher at The End.
What you get
- Escape the Backrooms' real content from your copy: every surface wears its level's own texture, the entities are ETB's own models with ETB's own animations, the props are ETB's furniture, and every sound is ETB's.
- Scavenge and craft: break props into scrap, wire and cloth. Craft flashlights, crowbars, barricades, almond water, flares, noise makers and first-aid kits in your 2x2 grid.
- Hazards: blackouts, broken glass and creaking boards, bursting steam pipes, sickening water, collapsing floors, grasping vines and long drops.
- Sanity drains in the dark and when entities watch you; almond water brings it back.
- Entities you can't kill, only stun, blind, hide from or outrun.
- Co-op for up to 4: friends join your run from Melty with one click. At zero health you go down instead of dying, and a friend can revive you.
- Saved as you go: quit any time and carry on from the start of the level you were on.
Playing
Press Play on Melty, then click Enter the Backrooms on Minecraft's title screen. You need Minecraft: Java Edition and Escape the Backrooms (Steam) installed on the same PC.
