The MX Rider rides the real THQ 250 from MX vs. ATV Unleashed, and it handles like it does there. Everything comes from your own copy of MX vs. ATV each time Risk of Rain 2 starts:
- the bike: frame, engine, exhaust, plastics, forks and wheels;
- the rider in his race gear;
- the engine note, crowd, crash sounds and soundtrack;
- the bike's physics file.
MX vs. ATV's physics, for the MX Rider only
The bike runs on MX vs. ATV's own solver, rebuilt from the game and fed by your mx_Race250A.phy:
- Suspension: spring, bounce and rebound damping, travel, bottoming out.
- Tires: MX's grip curves for dirt, pavement, sand, ice, mud and water. Risk of Rain 2's snow and ice really slide.
- Engine: the real horsepower curve, a 5-speed gearbox and clutch.
- Rider control: lean into corners, wheelies, air control, preload jumps and backflips.
- Wrecks: MX's own limits decide when you crash.
Controls: Xinput needed for proper MX controls (Use button is D-Pad Up)
The kit
- Unleashed (passive): anything you hit at speed takes 150–400% ram damage (25–60 mph).
- Roost: a spray of dirt clods, 5 × 70%.
- Wheelie Slam: MX's wheelie, then the front wheel slams down for 450% and stuns.
- Holeshot: MX's clutch dump (up to 3.3× torque), +100 armor, rams for 350%.
- Big Air: a real MX backflip; the landing hits for 800% plus 300% per second airborne, and the crowd cheers.
While the teleporter charges, a song from MX vs. ATV's soundtrack plays (you can turn this off in the config).
