Play Super Mario 64 as Leon S. Kennedy, built from your own Resident Evil 4 disc.
- The real Leon. His body, head, hair, gloved hands (RE4's own fists, open hands and support grip) and handgun come from your Resident Evil 4 disc (GameCube or Wii). They're rigged onto Mario's skeleton on your PC, so Mario's real animations move him: running, jumping, wall kicks, swimming and climbing.
- Leon moves like Leon. Standing, walking and running use his own RE4 idle, walk and run from your disc, stepping in time with your speed so his feet don't slide. Jumps, flips, wall kicks, swimming and climbing stay Mario's.
- The real Mario 64. It runs in sm64coopdx, built from your own Super Mario 64 (US) ROM.
- Leon's real RE4 aiming. Hold L and Leon draws the handgun from his thigh holster and takes his RE4 two-handed stance, with an over-the-shoulder camera and a red laser sight. These are Leon's own handgun motions from your disc (draw, aim, recoil, holster), blended for every aim angle. A or B fires and X reloads. Let go of L and he holsters the gun. A shot hits like Leon's punch: Goombas go down and drop their coin, other enemies react as if punched, and Bob-ombs blow up.
- Coins are ammo. The handgun holds 10 rounds. Coins still work as normal and also add to your reserve: yellow +2, red +4, blue +10.
- Leon's voice. Mario's voice lines are replaced with Leon's own grunts and yells from the disc. The handgun uses RE4's own firing, reload and shell-casing sounds.
- Single player.
You need
- Your own Super Mario 64 (USA) ROM (.z64, .n64 or .v64).
- Your own Resident Evil 4 disc for GameCube or Wii, as an .iso, an extracted disc folder, or a .zip or .7z of either. Melty can't read compressed .ciso, .rvz or .gcz images, so extract or convert one of those first.
Melty finds both on your PC. Nothing from either game is included. The first Play downloads sm64coopdx v1.5.1 from its official GitHub release, then builds Leon, his RE4 motions and his sounds from your disc. This takes a few seconds. Windows may ask once whether sm64coopdx can use the network. Either answer works for solo play.
The ammo counter is bottom left.
