Play as the real Super Mario 64 Mario in Minecraft: his whole moveset, his sounds and the soundtrack, from your own ROM.
Play as the real Super Mario 64 Mario inside Minecraft Java Edition. This isn't a look-alike model or a set of imitation moves: Mario's movement code is the actual decompiled game code from n64decomp/sm64, running through libsm64 inside a Fabric mod. Minecraft's blocks become SM64 collision around him in real time, and his model, animations, voice and the original soundtrack are loaded from your own Super Mario 64 ROM.
The real SM64 moveset — every move comes from the original game logic, with the same speeds, timings and heights as on the N64: walking and true analog running, single, double and triple jump, long jump, backflip and side flip, wall kick, slide kick, dive, ground pound, ledge grab and climb.
Minecraft blocks become SM64 levels — each tick, the blocks around Mario are turned into SM64 collision triangles. Stairs become 45° ramps, ice is slippery, lava and magma burn ("yeowch!" lava-boost jump), soul sand is shallow quicksand, and Minecraft water sets SM64's water level so Mario dives in and swims with the original swimming model.
Combat with Minecraft mobs — punches, kicks, dives and ground pounds hurt mobs; the ground pound hits everyone around you; landing on a mob stomps it and bounces Mario, Goomba-style. Taking damage plays Mario's knockback, and the power meter mirrors your hearts.
The original soundtrack, live from your ROM — SM64's own sequencer plays the music from the ROM's sequence and soundbank data. In Auto mode the track follows where you are (grassland → Bob-omb Battlefield, swimming → Dire, Dire Docks, deep underground → Cave Dungeon, the Nether → Lethal Lava Land, night → Haunted House...), or pin any of 20 tracks. Mario's voice ("Wahoo!", "Here we go!") and every sound effect come from the same engine.
Gamepad support — Xbox-style controllers work through GLFW's standard mapping with a radial deadzone, so a half stick really walks and a full stick runs. Shader support — works with Iris (tested with Complementary Reimagined): Mario gets the pack's lighting and casts real shadows. An on-screen controls card and a Mario 64 settings screen (Options → Controls → Mario 64 Settings) round it off.
To play you need: Minecraft: Java Edition (Melty sets up a Fabric 1.21.4 instance for you on first Play) and your own Super Mario 64 (USA) ROM — Melty finds it on your PC when you press Play. No Nintendo assets are included anywhere: Mario's model, textures, animations, voice and music are read from your own ROM at runtime, and sm64.dll is built from the decompilation on your PC the first time you play. Single-player only. Press M in a single-player world to become Mario; press M again to be Steve.
