Night City becomes a Megabonk run. Load your Cyberpunk 2077 save, press F7, and a Megabonk menu opens over the game: pick your arena, pick your starting weapon, and V is dropped in with ten minutes on the clock and every gang in town coming for them.
Megabonk is really in it. Its weapon, tome and item icons, UI frames, font, logo, music, sound effects and the 3D models of its chests, shrines and merchant are read from your own Megabonk install when you press Play. Nothing from Megabonk ships with the mashup.
What you do
- F7 opens the Megabonk menu (its music takes over from Cyberpunk's). Play > arena > starting weapon.
- Three arenas: Japantown (Tyger Claws, Maelstrom, NCPD, MaxTac), Dogtown (scavengers and Barghest, needs Phantom Liberty) and the Badlands (Wraiths).
- Three Cyberpunk starting weapons, held in V's hands and attacking by themselves: the Arasaka katana, Johnny Silverhand's Malorian with endless ammo, or the Monowire.
- Survive 10 minutes. A melee horde runs straight at you from every side, with elites as the clock runs down. Like in Megabonk, touching the horde hurts, so keep moving.
- Megabonk weapons as level-up cards: the Bone bounces from enemy to enemy, the Lightning Staff chains to more enemies as it levels, the Axe cuts through the pack, the Aura burns whatever gets close. Two netrunner quickhacks too: Short Circuit and Contagion.
- XP gems, levels, rarity cards. Every level stops time and offers three cards (Common to Legendary): a weapon, an upgrade, or a tome.
- 12 Megabonk passive items (Gym Sauce, Turbo Socks, Clover, Dragonfire, Ice Cube, Leeching Crystal...). They come from chests, which cost gold; elite and boss chests are free.
- The Shady Guy drops by and sells three items for gold.
- Four shrines, each with its real Megabonk model: Charge, Magnet, Cursed (more enemies, then a free chest) and Challenge (25 bonks in 30 seconds).
- Megabonk's screen, not Cyberpunk's: Megabonk health bar for V, health bars over hurt enemies, minimap, and a stats panel on Tab.
- Fast. Dash, air dash and double jump are switched on for the run.
- The boss shows up at 5:00, backs off, and returns at 00:00. Only your Megabonk weapons can hurt it. Bonk it to win and set your best time.
Controls
- F7: open / close the CyberBonk menu
- Arrows + Enter: menus, level-up cards, the merchant. Backspace: back
- Tab (hold): stats. Space: skip a chest opening. F8: give up the run
- Everything else is your normal Cyberpunk controls
You need
- Cyberpunk 2077 (2.x), in Windowed Borderless mode. Phantom Liberty only for the Dogtown arena.
- Megabonk installed (Steam).
Good to know
- Solo.
- During a run the game cannot be saved, V cannot die for real (reaching 0 health ends the run instead), and at the end V goes back where they stood. Cyberpunk's HUD and music settings are put back after the run.
- Chests, shrines and loot are hidden behind walls; a marker shows where the nearest chest and shrine are.
- Shares nothing from either game: every player uses their own copies.
