Two worlds, one journey. Two Flames runs Dark Souls III and Elden Ring side by side and links them at their hubs: rest at the Firelink Shrine bonfire or the Table of Lost Grace in Roundtable Hold, hold T (or click both sticks, L3 + R3), and you cross into the other world.
What crosses with you
- Your currency. Every soul you carry leaves Lothric and arrives as runes (×1.5); runes return as souls (×⅔).
- Your strength. Vigor, Attunement/Mind, Endurance, Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith and Luck/Arcane sync to the higher value in each world. Your level and max HP follow.
- Boss trophies. Fell a major boss in one game and a trophy waits at the other world's shrine. Lords of Cinder bring Lord's Runes and Golden Runes to the Lands Between; Elden Ring's shardbearers bring Titanite Slabs, Estus Shards and Twinkling Titanite to Lothric. That's 19 Dark Souls III bosses and 14 Elden Ring bosses.
How it plays
- Melty starts both games through ModEngine2, offline. Load your character in each.
- Rest at Firelink Shrine (Dark Souls III) or the Table of Lost Grace (Elden Ring, reached early through Melina) and hold the crossing button. The other game comes to the front, with Elden Ring arriving at the Table of Lost Grace.
- A crossing that happens before you've loaded your character in the other game waits until you do.
- Quitting Dark Souls III closes Elden Ring too.
Good to know
- Single player, offline (ModEngine2 starts Elden Ring with Easy Anti-Cheat off). Changes are made to your saves in those games: souls/runes, attributes and trophy items.
- Both games run at once, so a PC with about 16 GB of RAM is recommended. While Two Flames runs, Dark Souls III uses borderless fullscreen so the two games can hand the screen to each other instantly. Your graphics settings files aren't changed.
- Needs Dark Souls III 1.15.2 and Elden Ring 1.17.1 (app 2.7.1). Your own copies of both games are used; nothing from either game is included.
