Sonic Mania heroes, Chaos Emeralds and Metal Sonic battles in Terraria
Explore Terraria as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Mighty or Ray. Rescue friends, collect Rings and Chaos Emeralds, unlock Super forms, and challenge Metal Sonic and Giga Metal Sonic. Metal Sonic becomes playable through progression. You can also play as a normal Terrarian with shared Ring and Emerald progression.
Install this release in Melty and choose Play, or join a friend's Melty room. The launcher opens a separate character/world profile, enables the mod and connects to the host. A new host starts in a fresh generated world; later sessions retain that world's progress. Melty lets the host choose private, friends-only or public rooms.
Press H to switch to an available hero. The Hero Instruction Manual in your inventory shows current move bindings; the Hero Command Handbook lists player commands and sidekick controls. Cream and Amy sell replacements. Change hero bindings in Mod Configuration → SonicControlsConfig or Terraria's Mod Controls menu. /sonicheroturnoff returns to a normal Terrarian.
Stardust weapons, armor and crafting rewards are earned through Giga Metal Sonic. Stardust armor uses normal Terraria equipment visuals on Terrarians. Hero sprites, including ball and Super forms, keep their Sonic Mania appearance.
Melty profiles, worlds and logs are stored under %LOCALAPPDATA%\SonicTerrariaMelty. Your ordinary Terraria and tModLoader profiles are separate. Back up this folder if you want to preserve Melty progress. Uninstall the release in Melty; remove that data folder yourself only if you also want to erase its saves.
For startup issues, verify both games are installed and Steam is running. Logs are in the above data folder and the managed runtime's tModLoader-Logs directory. Include the launcher and native client/server logs when reporting an issue. Compatibility with additional third-party mods is not established; this edition uses its own mod list.

0.8.2 fixes the faint rectangular outlines around Super forms by removing atlas packing guides and using transparent padding for adjacent animation frames. Original Mania art, animations and Super colors remain. Sonic spikes and their special ring-loss behavior are removed; existing worlds automatically clear the retired spikes and stored items while preserving other terrain. The temporary Moon Lord testing add-on is excluded. Metal Sonic's grounded-height correction and starter guidebook delivery remain.
The Melty edition includes an automatic launcher, separate profiles, native host/join integration, an original starter-world template and release checks. All room members must update to the same release.
