Raiden in Lothric

Press F2 in Dark Souls III and your character becomes Raiden from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Press it again to go back.

Everything Raiden brings is converted on your PC from your own copy of Metal Gear Rising: his model and High-Frequency Blade, his sword moves, his sounds and the boss themes. Nothing from Metal Gear Rising is in the download.

What you get

• Raiden and the blade. An overlay on whatever you have equipped. Your stats, inventory and save are untouched.
• His real moves. Light, heavy, charged, quick, running and rolling attacks, one-handed and two-handed, use Raiden's own sword motions. He also moves faster than your own character.
• Blade Mode. Hold V: the world slows to about a third while Raiden stays at full speed, and your weapon hits twice as hard. Costs FP, shown on a gauge.
• Zandatsu. A kill in Blade Mode refills HP and FP.
• Parry by attacking. A hit that lands right as you start a light attack is turned aside, time freezes for a moment and your stamina refills.
• Boss music. Metal Gear Rising themes replace Dark Souls III boss music while you are Raiden, with the vocals coming in at phase two.

Controls

| | Keyboard | Controller | |---|---|---| | Become Raiden / go back | F2 | L3 + R3 | | Blade Mode (hold) | V | LB + R3 |

You need Dark Souls III (Steam, 1.15.2) and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (Steam). Without Metal Gear Rising, Dark Souls III plays as normal.

Good to know

• Single player and offline: the game shows "Starting in offline mode" at launch. That is intended.
• The first Play takes a few extra seconds while Raiden is converted.
• While the mod runs, katana-class weapons use Raiden's attacks.
• Still an early release: a full boss fight and female characters have not been tested yet.
