Monkeys vs. Zombies with Bloons TD 6's rule sets. Before every new level a Bloons Mode box asks which one to play.
Modes
- Standard: Monkeys vs. Zombies with the changes below and nothing else.
- Apopalypse: waves never pause. The next one is never more than 8 seconds behind.
- Double HP: every zombie and every balloon has twice the health.
- Half Cash: every banana you earn is worth half. Selling pays as usual.
- CHIMPS: no lawnmowers, no Banana Farms, no income from monkeys, no selling.
Play starts the level, Next Mode shows the next one (Enter/Space and Esc work too). The mode's name is shown above the level name, and a saved level keeps the mode it was started in. The Zen Garden and Tree of Wisdom have no modes.
New in 1.6
- Road Spikes upgrades. Click Road Spikes on the lawn: Bigger Stacks (20, twice the damage), White Hot Spikes (50, sets zombies on fire), Spiked Balls (125, strikes twice as often), Spiked Mines (300, a mine under the pile blows up every 3 seconds when zombies come near).
- Full laser beams. Lasers, plasma and sunlight from the Super Monkey and the Dartling Gunner fire as solid beams from the monkey, not as dots.
- Super Monkey sun art. With Sun Temple and True Sun God, the Super Monkey is drawn as the temple and the sun god.
- Rebalanced. Monkeys hit one and a half times as hard as the original (down from twice), bananas fall twice as often (down from four times), and every upgrade and paragon costs a tenth of the original. The Storm Druid's upgrades cost 25 / 60 / 150 / 375.
- Tougher zombies. Every zombie has half again its health (body, helmet, shield); in Double HP that is doubled again.
New in 1.5
- Super Monkey shoots any lane. It aims at the zombie closest to it anywhere on the lawn, and it sees camo.
- Camo on hand-out levels. On conveyor-belt levels like 3-5, and other levels and mini-games where you can't pick your monkeys, every monkey sees camo zombies.
- Random monkeys on 3-5. The conveyor belt deals random monkeys from everything you've unlocked, plus its lily pads.
Also in the mashup
- Sauda (150 bananas): a melee hero with night vision. She slashes the zombies right in front of her, sees camo zombies, and lets every monkey on the eight tiles around her see camo too.
- Storm Druid (125 bananas), the remix's Lightning Reed: every 1.5 seconds it zaps the first zombie in its lane and the bolt jumps to the two zombies nearest to it. Click it for four upgrades: Heart of Thunder, Druid of the Storm, Ball Lightning, Superstorm.
- First person. Point at a monkey and press F: the lawn turns into a 3D world seen from that monkey, with sky and horizon, zombies standing on the grass and your shots flying at them. Move the mouse to aim, click to fire at the monkey's own rate. F or the right mouse button goes back.
- Elemental effects. Fire sets zombies alight and a zombie that burns to death chars to ash; lightning electrocutes them (blue crackle, flashing, held in place for a moment); magic sparkles; lasers and plasma shock; acid burns green. Drawn with Bloons TD 6's own effect pictures.
- Endless Survival. Every level in the Survival menu keeps going: when a stage's last wave falls, the next one starts on the same lawn at once, with no seed picker and no break.
- Balance. The monkeys far above or below the rest in damage per banana were re-priced or re-tuned (Dartling 350, Ace 350, Druid 200, Desperado 200; Super Monkey 300, Mortar 200 and hits harder, Alchemist 175, Heli 375, Spike Factory 250, Buccaneer 150; Bomb Shooter, Wizard, Buccaneer and Mermonkey attack faster; Beast Handler hits harder).
- Unlocks like the original. Monkeys and the new units unlock level by level. To have everything from the first level, and the Survival menu open, set
all_towers=1 under [options] in %LOCALAPPDATA%\MonkeysVsZombies\bloons_modes.ini.
In every mode
- Every monkey can pop lead. A lead layer takes 3 pops.
- Obyn's Brambles (75 bananas): a thorn wall, the remix's Wall-nut. 1500 health, plant it alone or around a monkey like a Pumpkin. Zombies have to chew through it and the thorns hurt them the whole time.
- Road Spikes (100 bananas): a Spike Factory pile on the lawn, the remix's Spikeweed. Hurts every zombie that walks over it, with four upgrades on a click.
- Monkey Ace and Heli Pilot fly to the lane in the most danger and fire gatling-style darts down it; with Exploding Pineapple the Ace drops a pineapple on the lane's front zombie every two seconds.
- Boomerangs, glaives and kylies hit on the way out and again on the way back. The Spike Factory makes its piles twice as often.
What you need
Your own Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year and Bloons TD 6. Nothing from either game is in the download. The first start after an update takes a minute or two on the title screen while the monkeys' art is built from your Bloons TD 6. Single player.
