The Harran Quarantine, VEIN-style
You play as Kyle Crane on the Dying Light map — Harran, its architecture, characters, and weapons all remain intact. But the loot economy comes from VEIN: survival, looting, and crafting.
What the mashup changes
- Infected are fully lootable. Every kill (Biter lvl 1-5, Viral, Volatile, Goon, Spitter, Demolisher, Bomber, Screamer, Toad, harvestable corpses) drops several items at once, instead of a single coin or a single material.
- VEIN's economy determines the loot weights. At launch, a bridge reads the index of the VEIN .pak files installed on your PC (2 760 real items, 126 categories) and uses it to determine the weight of each loot stack. So the proportions really do come from VEIN.
- You craft your gear. Scrap, chemicals, and junk are plentiful (VEIN's “scavenge and craft” loop); ready-made weapons are rare. The weapons are still from Dying Light, but most of your gear is built from materials you scavenge.
- Harran stays Harran. The map, architecture, characters, weapons, and world are 100% Dying Light. Native co-op for up to 4 players (Dying Light's built-in multiplayer mode).
How it works
No files from either game are copied into the mod. At launch, a bridge runs on your PC with both games installed: it reads the VEIN .pak index to count its real items, reads the Dying Light loot scripts in DW/Data0.pak, and generates DW/Data3.pak (loaded by the engine after Data0.pak) with VEIN loot stacks applied to the infected.
What you need to play
- Dying Light (PC) — the host game.
- VEIN (PC) — the companion game, read at launch for its economy.
