A trapdoor in your Minecraft world drops you into Isaac's Basement — in first person, as Steve.
The rooms are Isaac's own layouts built out of Minecraft blocks. The monsters, bosses, items, hearts, coins, bombs, keys, HUD, sound effects and music are Isaac's too, read straight from your own copy of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth while you play. Nothing of Isaac's is in the download.
What you do
- Place the Basement Trapdoor you start with (or craft one: any wooden trapdoor + rotten flesh + a bone) and stand on it.
- Hold attack to shoot tears where you look. Use drops a bomb. R uses your active item (you start with the D6). Hold Tab for a bigger map.
- Clear rooms to open their doors, find the treasure room and the shop, beat the boss, take the trapdoor down.
- Four floors: Basement I and II, Caves I and II.
- Your Minecraft inventory is safe at home. Every boss you beat banks a Minecraft prize you keep even if you die later; clear Caves II for diamonds, netherite scrap, an enchanted golden apple and an enchanted diamond sword.
What's in it
- Isaac's rooms: 501 of his Basement and Caves rooms, plus his treasure rooms, shops and boss rooms. Rocks, pits, poop, spikes, fires, cobwebs and TNT all become Minecraft blocks that behave like they do in Isaac.
- 30 monsters with their own behaviours — flies, Gapers, Horfs, Clotties, Hoppers, Chargers, Hosts, Round Worms, Globins, Boom Flies and more — and 6 bosses: Monstro, The Duke of Flies, Larry Jr., Chub, Peep and Fistula.
- 71 items from Isaac's own item pools, with his stats: damage, tears, range, shot speed, speed and luck, plus triple and quad shots, piercing, homing and spectral tears.
- Isaac's rules: soul hearts before red hearts, locked treasure rooms and shops, room-clear drops, active item charges.
- Isaac's HUD, sounds and soundtrack, including the boss and shop themes and the jingles.
You need
- Minecraft: Java Edition (your Microsoft account; the first start asks you to sign in to the bundled launcher).
- The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth installed from Steam. The base game is enough. If it isn't installed, the game tells you and the trapdoor does nothing.
Single player. Windows.
Good to know
- This is a first version: big rooms, secret rooms, devil and angel deals, cards, pills, trinkets and familiars aren't in yet.
- Monster and boss behaviour is rebuilt for first person from how they act in Isaac.
/basement leave takes you home at any time.
