The whole Half-Life 2 saga, played as Minecraft's Steve.
🚪 Doors, buttons, chargers and vehicles: press G (not right-click). H switches to Gordon's weapons.
A real Minecraft (Java Edition) runs next to Half-Life 2 and is the player: you walk, fight, mine, build and craft with Minecraft's controls, hearts and inventory inside Half-Life 2's own maps.
- All 26 chapters in New Game: Half-Life 2 (1–14), Episode One (15–19) and Episode Two (20–26).
- Dig into the ground, rock and walls and build with Minecraft blocks; NPCs path round your holes and props fall in.
- Enemies drop Minecraft materials; crafting tables, furnaces, water and lava work.
- G use (doors, buttons, chargers, vehicles), H Gordon's weapons once he finds them and back to Steve's items, F flashlight, F6/F9 quick save/load.
- Each save keeps its own Minecraft world.
You need: Half-Life 2 with Episode One and Episode Two (the current Steam version has both) and Minecraft: Java Edition on your Microsoft account.
First Play: Melty sets up Minecraft once. Its window opens and downloads Minecraft, Fabric and Java: a few minutes, longer on a slow connection. Leave it open — Half-Life 2 starts by itself when it's ready. If it was closed, press Try again.
Stuck? Known issues and tips
- Can't get through somewhere, or can't climb a ladder? Hold F3 and press F4 to open Minecraft's game mode switcher, then pick Creative (double-tap Space to fly) or Spectator (fly through walls). Switch back to Survival the same way once you're past it.
- Ladders: Half-Life 2's ladders don't work for Steve yet. Fly up them in Creative mode as above, or build up with blocks.
- Invisible wall after breaking a block: quick save and quick load (F6, then F9) often clears it; otherwise go round it with Creative or Spectator mode.
- Minecraft says "This demo will last five game days"? The Microsoft account you signed in with doesn't own Minecraft: Java Edition, so Minecraft runs as the demo. Sign in with the account that owns it.
- "prismlauncher.exe is missing"? Your antivirus may have removed it: allow the mod's folder and press Reinstall in Melty.
- If Minecraft's sounds are missing, check your Windows sound output device (or reconnect your headphones) and start again.
- If Half-Life 2 crashes, just start it again: the next start records where it crashed (in ep2craft_diag.log) so it can be fixed in an update.
