Half-Life 2: Episode Two's whole story, played as Minecraft's Steve.
A real Minecraft (Java Edition 26.3 with Fabric) runs hidden next to Half-Life 2 and is the player: you walk, fight, mine and build with Minecraft's controls and inventory inside Episode Two's maps.
What you get
- The whole campaign, from the train wreck to White Forest, with Alyx, the vortigaunts and the car.
- Dig through anything: Episode Two's ground, rock and walls open into Minecraft terrain, ores included.
- Holes and blocks work for everyone: NPCs path round them; props, corpses and the car fall into them.
- Minecraft weapons, armor and TNT, plus the Gravity Gun. Enemies drop Minecraft materials; health kits and batteries heal Steve and give golden hearts.
- Gordon's own weapons too: once he has a gun, H switches between Steve's Minecraft items and Half-Life 2's weapons, with Half-Life 2's crosshair and ammo.
- Hits move things: swords, axes and fists knock crates, barrels and cans about and break what breaks.
- Steve's body in third person (F5) and a ragdoll when he dies.
- Food animals near supplies and on open ground; crafting tables, furnaces, enchanting tables, water and lava; a Nether portal takes you to the real Nether.
- Story-safe: doors and lifts can't be dug, and companions climb out of your holes.
- Every Half-Life 2 save keeps its own Minecraft world: load a save (or die and reload) and the holes, blocks and Steve's inventory are as they were at that save. New Game starts a fresh world.
You need
- Half-Life 2 with Episode Two (the current Steam version includes it).
- Minecraft: Java Edition.
On your first Play, Prism Launcher opens once: sign in with the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft, and it downloads Minecraft, Fabric and Java by itself.
Keys
Minecraft's keys do what Steve does. Half-Life 2 keeps H (Gordon's weapons), G (use: doors, buttons, the car), F (flashlight), F6 / F9 (quick save / load), Esc (menu), O (Minecraft's menu, with the Half-Life 2 destruction switch) and ` (console). In the car or on a ladder, Half-Life 2's keys drive and climb.
Single player.
