Steal the TV. Skate away.
Crime Simulator, with a skateboard under your feet and skate. in your ears.
Riding
- K drops you onto a board anywhere in Crime Simulator. You start slow; three pushes take you to top speed, and the rider keeps pushing with the right foot to hold it. Carve with the mouse, powerslide with back.
- Ride with the loot. Carry anything while you roll, the heavy stuff included, and ollie with it (the jump key), which Crime Simulator doesn't let you do on foot.
- Riding and ollies use no stamina.
The police skate too
- They arrive on skateboards instead of in patrol cars and chase you on them, a little slower than you are on yours. On foot you won't outrun them, so get to your board.
- They step off only under a roof, to search a house, and are back on the board outside. They ollie, kickflip, shuvit and spin on the way.
Tricks
- Kickflip. Shift + mouse 5. Hold it for a double. A triple needs a real drop under you.
- Pop shuvit. Shift + mouse 4.
- Manual. Hold Ctrl while rolling to ride on the back wheels and keep a line going.
- Flips. In the air, mouse 5 (forward side button) is a front flip and mouse 4 (back side button) a back flip. They work on foot too: from standing you jump into it.
- 360 spin. Right click in the air turns you and the board a full circle. It needs air: nothing happens on the ground or during a flip.
- Grind. Ollie onto a curb edge, a bench, a low wall or the top of a fence while moving along it and the board locks on and follows it. Jump, kickflip or shuvit to trick out; otherwise it lasts until the edge ends.
- Bails. Flips and spins add no height, so they need a good ollie or a drop. Land a trick short and you come off the board, hit the ground, get back up, and lose a tenth of your health.
Score and objectives
- Trick score, the way skate. counts it. Every trick adds points and raises the multiplier, up to x3. Roll away clean and the line is banked; bail and it's gone. Your best line is remembered.
- Mix it up. Repeating a trick in the same line pays less each time, so one trick can't carry a line.
- Objectives. Every mission hands you a random easy objective: bank points, put a number of tricks in one line, or grind for a while. Finish it and a medium one follows, then a hard one. Each pays Crime Simulator money and XP: a little for easy, more for medium, the most for hard. A new objective only counts tricks from your next line.
Camera
- V switches between first and third person whenever you like, on or off the board. In third person the rider pushes, tucks for an ollie, goes round in flips and spins, and crouches on landing.
- Scroll wheel zooms the third-person camera in and out. The item bar doesn't scroll while you're on the board.
- Free look. Hold the mouse wheel button on the board and move the mouse to look around without steering.
Extras
- It sounds like skate. The rolling, the ollie pop, the landing, the grind and the powerslide are skate.'s own sounds, and the radio plays skate.'s soundtrack while you ride (N skips, M turns it off). All of it is read from your own skate. install as you play.
- Session marker. F6 places a marker where you stand and F7 teleports you back to it. It lasts for the map you placed it in, does nothing while you are dead, and refuses while anyone is chasing you, can see you, or has heard you and is looking.
- Your own deck and wheels. Put pictures named
StealTvSkateAway-deck.png and StealTvSkateAway-wheels.png (or .jpg) in BepInEx/config in the Crime Simulator folder and they are printed on your board. Only you see your pictures.
- Co-op, up to 4. Works in Crime Simulator's online co-op. Everyone with the mashup sees and hears each other's boards, and Melty's Join drops a friend straight into the host's lobby.
A clean landing never hurts; a really long drop still does.
You need: Crime Simulator (Steam) and skate. (free), both installed. Melty sets up everything else.
Keys can be changed in BepInEx/config/gg.melty.stealtvskateaway.cfg in the Crime Simulator folder. The same file has onSkateboards = false under [Police] if you want patrol cars back.
