Climb PEAK as usual — until the sun goes down. At night, The Forest's cannibals come out of the dark: painted, pale, burned and skinny ones, women too, with their own voices and their own animations.
- They stalk you first. They creep closer, freeze and watch, then scream and charge — often from two sides at once.
- They climb. Getting up a cliff won't save you: they come up the rock after you.
- Fire is safety. They won't step into a lit campfire's light. They crouch at its edge and wait for you to leave.
- Bring a flashlight. Every scout lands with one: click to switch it on and it throws a beam wherever you look. The battery never dies. Your friends see your beam sweep the dark — and so do you, when theirs goes still.
- Clip it on. Right-click (or F) clips the flashlight onto your backpack strap — hands free for climbing, and it keeps lighting where you look. Wear two for a brighter beam; F takes one back.
- You can outrun them. A sprinting scout is a little faster than a cannibal — as long as your stamina holds.
- A bleaker island. Darker nights, a washed-out overcast day and distant cannibal calls in the night.
- Co-op for up to 4. The host's night brings the cannibals for everyone in the lobby. Invite friends with PEAK's normal Steam invites; everyone needs the mashup.
You need PEAK and The Forest. On your first Play, Melty prepares the cannibals from your own copy of The Forest (about ten seconds) — nothing from The Forest is shipped with the mashup.
Settings live in BepInEx/config/c00lkidd.peakoftheforest.cfg: how many cannibals come, how big they are, how far away they appear, the campfire's safe radius, how gloomy the days and nights are, and the flashlight clip key.
Credits: mod by c00lkidd. Cannibal models, animations and voices are read from the player's copy of The Forest (Endnight Games). PEAK by Aggro Crab & Landfall. The bundled extractor uses UnityPy, python-fsb5, PyOgg (libogg, libvorbis), Pillow and PyInstaller — see CREDITS.txt.
