Left 4 Dead 2's Dead Center, played inside Minecraft. You and up to three friends fight through all four chapters of the campaign as your own Minecraft character, while the AI Director decides when the horde comes.
DirectorCraft ships no game files. While you play, it reads the maps, models, textures, sounds and music straight from your own copy of Left 4 Dead 2, so it looks and sounds like the real game.
The campaign
- Dead Center, all four chapters: The Hotel, The Streets, The Mall and The Atrium, built from L4D2's own maps. You get the real geometry, textures, baked lighting, skyboxes and props, with collision that matches what you see.
- Doors swing open (and infected bash through them), glass breaks under fire, and ladders can be climbed.
- The Hotel's elevator ride, stall and lights-out included.
- Get everyone into the end safe room to move on. Each new chapter brings L4D2's loading poster and chapter card.
- The finale: pick up the gas cans and pour 13 into the stock car while hordes and Tanks keep coming. Then get in the car and escape.
Weapons and items
- 20 L4D2 guns: pistol, dual pistols, Magnum, three SMGs, pump, chrome, tactical and combat shotguns, M16, AK-47, Combat Rifle, SG552, hunting rifle, sniper rifle, AWP, Scout (with scopes), grenade launcher and M60. All use L4D2's first-person models, arms, animations and sounds.
- Melee: fire axe, crowbar, katana, frying pan.
- Items: first aid kit, adrenaline, pipe bomb (the horde chases it), molotov, ammo pack.
- L4D2's five-slot inventory, plus shoving, headshots, reloads, recoil and spread.
The infected and the Director
- Common infected (L4D2 models) already roam the maps, and hordes rush you.
- The Tank punches you across the room and throws chunks of concrete. The Witch sits and cries, so don't startle her.
- The AI Director builds up the pressure, peaks and lets you breathe, as in L4D2. Its music cues mark hordes, Tanks and Witches.
- Survivors call out with Coach's voice lines.
It feels like L4D2
- L4D2's HUD: survivor panels, the weapon column, pain indicators, instructor hints and goal markers, and the YOU ARE DEAD screen.
- L4D2-style main and pause menus with the Dead Center theme.
- A crosshair you can restyle (Esc > Crosshair).
