"test this plz, I have no friends": Fallout: New Vegas co-op for 2-4, shared story, fights, revive
Test this plz, I have no friends. Attempt 2.5 at real co-op for Fallout: New Vegas: 2 to 4 players in one shared Mojave. Every part below passed automated tests with two copies of the game on one PC, but it has never been played by two real people over the internet. That's where you come in.
One story for everyone. The host's game runs the quests. Quest stages, objectives, dialogue results, karma and reputation reach every player, without anyone's scripts running twice. That means no duplicate rewards and no double spawns.
See each other. Every other player appears as their own Courier, with their armor and weapon, running, sneaking and shooting where they really are.
Fight together. The host's game decides where nearby enemies are, their health and when they die. Everyone's hits count, and a kill shows up dead for everyone.
Downed, not dead. With a teammate in the game, dropping to 10% health knocks you down. A teammate holding Use on you for 3 seconds gets you back up with 30% health. If the whole group is down at once, everyone dies and reloads.
Host and join from the main menu. A CO-OP button sits on the main menu and the pause menu. Host copies an invite (fnvcoop://...) for you to paste to your friends. Join reads the invite from your clipboard. Melty's Play together sets this up for you.
Controller fix. A/cross jumps, Y/triangle interacts, L3 sprints and an R3 tap crouches. Settings are in Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\MojaveCoop.ini, and F7 shows them in game.
