Play through Subnautica as your Minecraft character.
Subnautica is the world; Minecraft is you. Explore the ocean with your Minecraft inventory, health and hunger, place blocks on the sea floor, wire up redstone in your base, and fight a Reaper with a diamond sword. Subnautica’s creatures drop Minecraft loot, its tools still work from your Minecraft hotbar, and Drowned, creepers and endermen have moved in.
How it plays: press Play and both games start. Load a Subnautica save and you’re in, with Minecraft running behind it.
Playing together: best with 4–8 players. For now each player sets up multiplayer by hand: Nitrox for Subnautica, plus a Minecraft server (with allow-flight=true) or Essential. One-click joining is coming later.
Good to know: you can only type in Minecraft’s chat (not on signs, anvils or search boxes). Very large builds lower Subnautica’s frame rate.
Getting Minecraft items: Subnautica's mobs drop Minecraft items, and digging the seafloor allows collection of many more. You can also craft Minecraft items at the fabricator. This allows for full Minecraft tool progression and full Subnautica progression.
Needs Minecraft: Java Edition and Subnautica. For now Subnautica must be the Steam version: Melty doesn't detect the Xbox app / Game Pass copy yet.
