Quake II's Strogg teleport into Quake III's Arena of Death in waves. Fight back with Quake II's Hyperblaster, Chaingun and BFG10K.
Quake II's Strogg have found the Arena. You start in Quake III Arena's Arena of Death, and wave after wave of Strogg teleport in, read straight from your own Quake II: Light Guards, Gunners, Berserkers and finally the Tank, with their real models, skins, animations, pain skins and sounds.
Quake II's guns are here too. The Hyperblaster, Chaingun and BFG10K (with its green lasers) lie on the arena floor next to Quake III's own weapons, along with Quake II cells and bullets. As in Quake II, the Chaingun eats the Machinegun's bullets and the BFG10K eats the Hyperblaster's cells.
Quake II's soundtrack plays. Every wave starts a track from your Quake II music folder, and Quake III's announcer calls Prepare to fight!
Quake III Arena and Quake II, both installed (the Steam versions work). Melty reads both games from where you installed them: nothing from either game is copied or shipped.
It runs on ioquake3, the open-source Quake III engine, included in the download, with two additions: it reads Quake II's .pak archives in place and loads Quake II's .md2 models. Offline and single player, with no PunkBuster.
Source code is included in the download (GPL-2.0-or-later).
