Stars 4 Dead

Jill Valentine walks the streets of Left 4 Dead 2.

Press Play and you're dropped into Dead Center: The Streets as Jill, with an over-the-shoulder camera in the style of the Resident Evil remakes. The rest of the S.T.A.R.S. team fights beside you: Chris, Barry and Rebecca take the other survivor slots as bots. Every common infected is redrawn as one of Resident Evil's own zombies.

What changes

• You play as Jill. The mod puts you in her slot automatically.
• Behind-the-shoulder camera is on from the moment you spawn.
• RE4-style aiming: hold right mouse to aim. The camera tightens over Jill's shoulder and she slows to an aiming walk. Fire with left mouse. Shove moves to the middle mouse button. Your own Left 4 Dead 2 key bindings and camera settings are put back when the game closes.
• The S.T.A.R.S. team as your bots: Chris (Ellis's slot), Barry (Coach's slot) and Rebecca (Nick's slot).
• Resident Evil zombies replace L4D2's common infected, with several different RE zombies mixed through every horde.
• Everything else is Left 4 Dead 2 as you know it: its campaigns, weapons, special infected and AI Director. Pick any other campaign from the menu once you're in.

Your own copies You need Left 4 Dead 2 and Resident Evil HD Remaster (Steam). No Resident Evil files are included. The first time you press Play, a small converter reads Jill, the team and the zombies (models and textures) from your Resident Evil install. It fits them onto Left 4 Dead 2's skeletons, so they use L4D2's own animations, and saves the result as an addon in your L4D2 folder. This takes about 20 seconds.

Solo play. Survivor voices and animations are still Left 4 Dead 2's. To remove the characters from Left 4 Dead 2 after uninstalling, turn off Stars 4 Dead in the game's Add-ons menu.
