Rip and tear through the fungal caves. Slayer and Gloom turns Shroom and Gloom's card fights into real-time first-person combat as the Doom Slayer, and the sounds and music come straight from your own copy of DOOM: The Dark Ages.
What you get
Real-time FPS fights against Shroom and Gloom's own fungal enemies: their real health, attacks, animations, deaths and the game's own after-fight rewards. No cards in a fight: aim with the mouse and fire.
The heavy kit: Super Shotgun [1], a thrown Shield Saw that chews through enemies in a line [2], and the Accelerator plasma gun [3].
Shield block and parry (hold right mouse): raise it just before a hit to parry, staggering the attacker and getting shells back.
Enemies strike in real time. They wind up (a wiggle and a red "!"), so strafe (A/D), jump (Space) or dash (Shift) out of the way.
Eat everything, Slayer style. Bring an enemy low and it staggers. Press F to devour it for health, ammo and ingredients, a glory kill with Shroom and Gloom's eat-everything rule.
Soup upgrades. Kills drop ingredients. While the game's after-fight reward screen is up, press C to cook Meatier Pellet Stew, Spicy Spin Broth or Plasma Burst Bisque.
DOOM: The Dark Ages audio, from your install: the Super Shotgun, Accelerator, Shield Saw and parry sounds, plus its combat and ambient music, read at runtime from your own DOOM: The Dark Ages folder. Nothing from DOOM is in the download.
Exploring: mouse look and strafing. W/S walk the tunnels, Tab frees the cursor for explore cards, and Space/Shift keep the game's own End Turn and Run. F8 switches Slayer mode off and on.
