Roll a Katamari through the real streets of GTA: San Andreas. Gather street clutter, people and vehicles as the ball grows, with Katamari models, music and presentation read from your own REROLL installation.
Recent updates — 0.2.7
- 23 named Cousins, plus the Prince: choose your character before launching. The temporary picker remembers your last successfully played choice and shows discovery and visitor-rarity status.
- Rarer unusual Cousins: distinctive shapes such as Odeko, Marny, Opeo and Nickel are less common encounters than the conventional Cousins. Visitors react only when the ball gets close: a startled jump with raised arms, then fleeing.
- Model repairs: corrected renamed, combined and split model parts, including Opeo's hands, Miso's antenna, Marny's core/face and Nickel's torso/arms. Velvet now has compatible owned leg geometry with her own texture; this remains an approximation.
- Upright pickup previews: corrected the preview camera's upside-down orientation. Verified in GTA with both a traffic cone and Nickel.
- More Cosmos information: highlight archived planets to inspect each roll's seed, volume and prop total. Page selection no longer switches the current location with the controller's left/right buttons.
- Less repeated texture data: the expanded roster shares texture data during loading, keeping it within the existing memory limit.
Recent updates — 0.2.6
- Added the temporary character picker and the first Cousin visitors, with close-range reactions, size-based collection, wrapping, 3D pickup previews and persistent discoveries. Existing character choices remain freely selectable.
- Added manual Freemode save, resume and restart. Collected Cousin attachments can be saved too; unreadable or protected saves are preserved rather than overwritten.
- Added Freemode-to-Cosmos archiving, planet icons, retained roll statistics and personal records. Re-archiving the same roll updates its result; the archive keeps the latest 24 rolls.
- Added contextual King results, seeded ball colours/geometric patterns and controller progression shortcuts.
- Retained the recent rolling, dash, gradual volume-growth, wrapping, ground/contact, camera and recovery work. Status information now sits at the top of the screen, with the flower size gauge, timer and pickup display around the edges.
Useful controls
- F5: save the current Freemode roll.
- F9: resume the saved Freemode roll.
- R: restart a roll.
- F6: archive or update a Freemode result.
- C: open Cosmos; use left/right to select an entry and Page Up/Page Down to change archive pages.
Requirements and current limits
Requires owned, installed copies of classic GTA: San Andreas and Katamari Damacy REROLL. Tested with GTA Steam build 459558 and REROLL build 20629440. Single-player only. This is a native GTA mashup, not a standalone replacement for either game. No original game models, textures or audio are bundled.
This is still in development. Jungle's body pattern is simplified, Velvet's legs are approximate, and the Cousins use lightweight poses rather than the source game's complete skeletal animations. Decorative clipping, bulky attachment placement, tight-space snags and roof/tree camera obstruction can still occur. Longer stability testing and physical controller coverage remain incomplete.
Freemode saves restore the ball, not the entire surrounding GTA world; traffic and clutter regenerate. Attached trains are unsupported. Back up progress before downgrading, because older builds cannot read the new Cousin IDs and discovery bits. Both 0.2.7 Melty install/play runs passed their 12 checks, alongside separate local roster and save tests; this is not a claim that every scenario is bug-free.
The navigable planet menu, additional unlock progression, animals, collectible cities, photos and Crown work remain unfinished. An independently qualified offline Windows release is also still pending.
Made by mooyels, with Codex-assisted development. GTA: San Andreas belongs to Rockstar Games; Katamari Damacy REROLL belongs to Bandai Namco Entertainment / MONKEYCRAFT. Loader and library credits/licences are included in the package. This project is unaffiliated with either game's owners.
