Steve in GMod — first playable slice

A solo Garry's Mod mashup where Steve is rendered as the player avatar and Minecraft's own vanilla block textures are imported from the player's installed Minecraft Java Edition files. Minecraft files are never included in this project.

Status

SOURCE / UNTESTED. This workspace does not contain Garry's Mod or Minecraft, so the real-game launch, Melty one-click recipe, and screenshot still need to be verified on the Windows game machine.

First-minute loop

1. Start a normal GMod Sandbox map.
2. Steve is drawn over the local player.
3. Select one of five imported Minecraft blocks with the number keys 1–5.
4. Left click places a 16-unit cube on the surface under the crosshair.
5. Right click removes a Steve block.
6. Blocks are ordinary physics entities, so they sit beside and interact with normal GMod props.

Minecraft files used

The importer reads only these vanilla files from the player's Minecraft Java installation:

• assets/minecraft/textures/block/grass_block_top.png
• assets/minecraft/textures/block/grass_block_side.png
• assets/minecraft/textures/block/dirt.png
• assets/minecraft/textures/block/stone.png
• assets/minecraft/textures/block/oak_planks.png

They are copied into the local GMod addon at setup time. They are not shipped in the source or release archive.
