Deep Rock Galactic, played as Halo 3 Spartans. The Halo parts come from your own copy of Halo 3 in The Master Chief Collection while you play: weapon stats, Spartan shield values, sounds and the score. Nothing from Halo is shipped with this mod.
What changes
- Spartan energy shield. Your armor works like Master Chief's shield, with the same delay and recharge. You get the Halo shield-low beeps and recharge sound.
- Halo movement. You jump higher, fall slower and have more air control. DRG's sprint stays so long caves still play well.
- The Halo 3 arsenal, by class. Each gun takes its Halo 3 weapon's magazine, reserve, fire rate and sounds. Bullet weapons also take Halo 3 damage; launchers, beams and flames keep DRG's damage:
- Engineer: Shotgun, SMG, Needler / Brute Shot, Rocket Launcher, Sentinel Beam
- Scout: Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Plasma Rifle / Mauler, Spiker, Beam Rifle, plus an Energy Sword power attack
- Driller: Flamethrower, Fuel Rod Gun / Covenant Carbine, Plasma Pistol, plus a Gravity Hammer power attack
- Gunner: Machine Gun Turret, Plasma Cannon, Missile Pod / Magnum, Battle Rifle, Spartan Laser
- Grenades get Halo 3's frag, plasma, spike and firebomb sounds.
- Halo 3 soundtrack. The score changes with what's happening: the menu theme on the Space Rig, the overture on the drop, the Flood arrival when a swarm hits, brass for Dreadnoughts and the Warthog Run during extraction.
- Mixed into DRG. Halo's music and sounds follow DRG's Master, Music and Effects volume sliders.
- Halo HUD. A shield bar, health ticks, motion tracker, ammo counter, grenade count and Halo reticles are drawn over the game.
Good to know
- You need Halo 3 installed in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. MCC never starts and its files are never changed.
- DRG switches to borderless fullscreen so the HUD can draw over it.
- Halo weapons use Halo stats, so DRG weapon mods and overclocks don't change those numbers.
- Cryo Cannon and Wave Cooker stay as DRG's own, because Halo 3 has no match for them. Guns keep their DRG models.
Co-op, up to 4 players.
Join through the game: the host starts a mission lobby from the Space Rig as usual, and friends join from DRG's server list or through Steam's "Join Game". Everyone should run Spartan Dwarves. The host's copy decides shields and damage.
