Play Hollow Knight as Ruby Rose. The Knight is swapped for Ruby and she fights by RWBY: Grimm Eclipse's rules, through the whole of Hallownest. Solo.
Nothing from either game is in the download. While Hollow Knight runs, the mod reads Ruby from your own installed copy of RWBY: Grimm Eclipse: her model, textures and animations, her voice and Crescent Rose's sounds, her stats, every move's damage and timing data, and her skill tree with its icons and descriptions.
You need
- Hollow Knight on version 1.5.78.11833. In Steam: right-click Hollow Knight > Properties > Game Versions & Betas > 1.5.78.11833. The Modding API does not run on the newer builds, and the game will not start modded on them.
- RWBY: Grimm Eclipse installed from Steam. Without it the mod says so on screen and you play as the Knight.
- Windows.

What you get
- Scythe combos. Attack is a four-hit light chain on the ground and in the air. Focus/Cast is the heavy attack: hold it to charge, or press it after one, two or three lights for a different finisher.
- Crescent Rose's rifle on Quick Cast. The third shot in a row is Dust Blast.
- Dodge on Dash, with a moment of invincibility. Dodge just before a hit lands and Ruby counters: the hit is cancelled and the attacker is struck and stunned.
- Reap (Up + Focus/Cast) on an enemy your counter has stunned.
- Crescendo, her ultimate: Attack and Focus/Cast together, once the red bar under the Soul vessel has filled from landing hits.
- Aura on the Soul vessel. Hits drain aura before masks, and it refills after a few seconds out of danger.
- Her skill tree at any bench: press Quick Cast while resting. Fifteen skills to buy with Geo, including Improved Crescendo, Grimm Reaper, and Electric, Ice and Fire Blast.
Her basic hit deals your current nail damage, so nail upgrades still count. Enemies, breakable walls, levers and grass react to her scythe as they do to the nail. Desolate Dive stays on Down + Focus/Cast once you own it.
Good to know
- No pogo: her air attacks hover instead of bouncing.
- Nail and Soul charms have no effect while you are Ruby, and Hollow Knight's other spells are replaced by her moves.
- Grimm Eclipse's particle effects are not brought over; Hollow Knight's own hit effects show instead.
- This is version 0.1.0. Ruby is the only huntress so far.
