Risk of Rain 2 with a real Minecraft 26.3 player inside it. Minecraft runs hidden next to Risk of Rain 2, and a small Rust library links the two games through shared memory. You see Risk of Rain's stages, monsters and items. Steve moves, fights and loots like a Minecraft player.
What you get
- Steve replaces every survivor. The lobby shows you in your own Minecraft skin, and so does F5 in the run.
- Minecraft movement: walking, sprinting, sneaking, jumping and falling use Minecraft's own physics on Risk of Rain's terrain.
- Minecraft HUD and screens: the hotbar, hearts, hunger, XP, inventory, crafting, furnaces and chat. Risk of Rain's health bar and skill icons are gone. Your Risk of Rain equipment sits in a Minecraft-style slot by the hotbar with its name and cooldown; press R to use it.
- Minecraft weapons hit Risk of Rain monsters. Swords, axes and bows do their Minecraft damage times your Risk of Rain damage stat, and they proc your on-hit items.
- Minecraft health: monsters hit your Minecraft hearts. Risk of Rain's armour, shields and items apply first, then your Minecraft armour. Food heals you, and so do Risk of Rain's healing items and regen.
- Your levels and items scale Steve: max health, speed, attack speed, jump, mining speed and luck (57 Leaf Clover) become real Minecraft attributes. Crits, armour, shields and regen work as in Risk of Rain.
- Starter kit every run: a stone sword, a bow, a stone pickaxe, a stone shovel, 32 arrows and 8 bread.
- Minecraft loot: chests, barrels and shrines also roll real Minecraft loot tables. Monsters you kill drop their Minecraft mob loot and XP.
- Mining and building: dig into the stage's ground, rocks and structures like Minecraft. The hole is cut out of Risk of Rain's world itself, so you (and monsters) can go down into it, and it's lined with Minecraft blocks. Place blocks anywhere; the stage lights them like its own rocks.
- Minecraft chests on every stage: real chests on the ground, more and better the further and harder the run (village and dungeon loot early, ancient cities and end cities later). Later chests can hold Eyes of Ender.
- The Nether: build an obsidian portal on any stage and step in. The run goes to a Nether stage of netherrack and basalt with fortress arches, fungi, bastion rubble, more loot and Nether chests. Beat its teleporter to move on.
- The End: on stage 5 a stronghold End portal frame waits near the teleporter with some eyes already in. Fill it and jump in to fight a real Ender Dragon on end-stone islands, with crystals and a boss bar. Kill it and Minecraft's End Poem and credits play, then the run is won.
- Minecraft in the Bazaar: lunar terminals sell Minecraft's rarest items (Elytra, shulker boxes, Totems, Enchanted Golden Apples, netherite, the Mace, Nether Stars, Eyes of Ender) straight into your inventory, and master villagers stand by the counter to trade with.
- Minecraft's menus: your normal Windows cursor in Minecraft's screens, and Minecraft's pause menu (O) pauses the run when you play alone.
- Comes with Mouse Tweaks, AppleSkin, Mod Menu and Resourcify, plus what they need.
- Co-op for up to 4 players through Risk of Rain 2's own lobby. Each player runs their own Minecraft.
Join through the game: everyone starts RiskOfCraft from Melty, then the host picks Multiplayer on Risk of Rain 2's title screen and hosts a lobby. Friends join from Steam: the host invites them (Shift+Tab, Friends, Invite to Game), or they pick Join Game on the host in their Steam friends list. Up to 4 players.
Minecraft mods included: RiskOfCraft's own Minecraft side, Fabric API, Mouse Tweaks, AppleSkin, Mod Menu and Resourcify, plus the libraries they need (Fabric Language Kotlin, Text Placeholder API, Cloth Config).
Adding more mods: put Fabric mods for Minecraft 26.3 in %LOCALAPPDATA%\RiskOfCraft\Prism\instances\RiskOfCraft\.minecraft\mods (paste it into File Explorer's address bar). Resource packs go in the resourcepacks folder next to it. Leave out mods that replace Minecraft's renderer, such as Sodium: they break how RiskOfCraft draws Minecraft's blocks into Risk of Rain 2. Keep a copy of the mods you add, in case an update or a reinstall resets the folder.
Controls: Minecraft has the keyboard and mouse. G interacts with chests, shrines and the teleporter, R uses your equipment, Esc opens Risk of Rain's menu and O opens Minecraft's menu (it pauses the run when you play alone).
First Play: Prism Launcher opens once so you can sign in with the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition. It then downloads Minecraft, Fabric and Java (a few minutes). In the drop pod, press interact to step out.
Known limits
- If Steve is shoved into Risk of Rain's ground, he is put back on top within a second.
- Placed blocks exist only in your own Minecraft.
- In co-op, other players show with your skin.
- Co-op hasn't been tested with two PCs yet.
