Play Redout 2 in VR. Every race, ship, track and mode works exactly as in the base game. You sit in them with head tracking and race with Valve Index (Knuckles) controllers.
What you get
- Game: Redout 2 (Steam). A solo VR mod: the game's own online races still work, and the VR view is only on your side.
- Two views: Cockpit (inside the ship) or Chase (behind it). Right thumbstick click switches at any time. Choose which view races start in from the Redout 2 VR panel in UEVR's menu (click both thumbsticks).
- Menus and HUD on the same 16:9 screen in front of you whatever monitor you have. While VR is on, the game runs in a 1920×1080 window, and your own display settings come back right after it opens. The view recenters itself if you're turned away from the menu.
- Comfort: camera shake is off by default, and chase view smooths the horizon roll.
Knuckles controls while racing
- Right trigger: accelerate. Left trigger: brake.
- Left thumbstick: steer and pitch. Right thumbstick: strafe and nose tilt.
- Left grip / right grip: strafe left / right.
- Right A: boost. Right B: hyperboost.
- Left B / left A: roll left / right in flight sections.
- Left B + right B together: pause (in races and menus).
- Left thumbstick click: recenter the view.
Race controls are on only while you're racing. On the pre-race, results and pause screens the controllers act as a normal gamepad: hold A to start a race, A to continue.
Known issues
- Respawn isn't mapped yet.
- Some lag when opponents are on screen.
- Distant mountains can clip through the track.
- Red-out and blackout effects are weaker than in the flat game.
What you need. Redout 2 on Steam, a SteamVR headset, and SteamVR running. On first start the mod downloads UEVR (praydog's Unreal Engine VR mod) from its official release. Your game files are never changed.
