F5 / F6 / F7: next character for party slot 1 / 2 / 3. F9 / F10 / F11: previous character. F8: give every slot back to the game's own party.
The party portraits on the HUD show who just joined. Your picks are remembered, come back after loading screens and scenes, and stay between sessions.
Story parts where Sora is alone stay solo.
Every Keyblade wielder uses their special moves in normal fights (Riku's Dark Firaga and Shadow Breaker, Aqua's magic, Xion's Laser Rain, Roxas's X Cut Down, Lea's fire attacks), and Lea fights with his real attack set outside his story battles.
Guests the game keeps out of fights outside their own world (Sulley, Mike) fight anywhere. Baymax hops next to an enemy when a world's paths stop him walking there.
They fight at their own built-in strength. The game's menus (Equipment, Stats) still show only its own party.
Team attacks: added characters keep the team attack the game gives them, but the game decides when its prompt shows.
Single player.
