Counter-Strike 2's bomb defusal inside Gorilla Tag: real CS2 guns, buy menu and recoil, read from your own copy of CS2.
You are a gorilla. You still move the way Gorilla Tag has always moved — swing your arms. Everything else is Counter-Strike.
A real CS2 round, in the forest
Twenty seconds of buy time, a hundred and fifteen seconds to win it, forty seconds on the C4 once it is planted. First to thirteen, sides swap at twelve. Terrorists carry the bomb to site A or B and plant it by putting both hands on the ground. Counter-Terrorists hold the sites and defuse — ten seconds bare-handed, five with a kit.
The guns are the actual guns
These are not lookalikes. The first time you play, Monkey Strike reads your own installed copy of Counter-Strike 2 and pulls out the real thing: the AK-47's model and texture, its four firing sounds, and its real numbers — 36 damage, 30 rounds, a 100 ms cycle time, $2700, armour ratio 1.55, and recoil seed 223, which is the thing that makes an AK spray like an AK.
Twenty weapons, from the Glock-18 and USP-S up through the MAC-10, AK-47, M4A1-S, AWP and Negev, plus grenades, armour and a defuse kit. The buy menu shows CS2's own inventory icons at CS2's own prices, and a CS2 balance patch changes the prices here too. The announcer, the music kit, the C4 beep and the defuse are all CS2's as well.
One hand or two
Hold a gun in one hand and it throws itself around — the AK gets six times the spread. Bring your off hand to the foregrip and it braces: now you get CS2's real recoil pattern, generated from that weapon's own seed. But both your arms are busy, so you are not swinging anywhere. That trade is the whole game.
Recoil kicks the gun and your arm, never your head.
Nine bot gorillas
Bots fill out CS2's five a side. They are Gorilla Tag's own gorilla rig with the scripts taken off, carrying real CS2 weapons, and they buy from their own preference list, push sites, plant, rotate and defuse. Entry monkeys rush, AWP monkeys hold the long line, anchors sit on a site and wait for you.
Playing
Works in VR with your controllers — right trigger fires, left hand braces, left X/A opens the buy menu — and on desktop Gorilla Tag with mouse and keyboard.
Other gorillas in your Gorilla Tag room can be switched into the round with F10, which shares teams and the round clock through Gorilla Tag's own room. It is off by default and not verified yet, so 0.1.0 is listed as single player; the bots are the real thing today.
What you need
Gorilla Tag and Counter-Strike 2, both installed. Melty handles the rest.
Counter-Strike 2 is never launched and never modified — the mod only reads files from it, once, on your own machine. Nothing from either game ships with this mod; every player brings their own copies.
