Fallout: New Vegas comes to Baldur's Gate 3. You play BG3's own story, but fights run in real time with V.A.T.S., and the Mojave's guns, armor, chems, enemies and factions turn up along the way. Everything from New Vegas is read from your own installed copy while you play.
What you get
- Real-time combat. No turn order: enemies and companions act on their own and you click to attack. F9 switches back to turn-based whenever you like.
- V.A.T.S. (F6). Pick body parts on nearby enemies, each with a hit chance, and spend Action Points. Body parts, AP costs and limb damage come from New Vegas's own data, and you take half damage while it is open.
- New Vegas gear. 14 weapons (9mm Pistol, That Gun, Varmint Rifle, Hunting Rifle, Machete and more), 8 armors and 8 aid items with their New Vegas names, clip sizes, reload times and effects. A Mojave Express delivery puts a starter kit in your pack when you reach the beach.
- New Vegas enemies. Powder Gangers, Caesar's Legion, Fiends, coyotes, radscorpions, nightstalkers and deathclaws ambush you as you travel, with their New Vegas names on Baldur's Gate 3 bodies. Ambushes start once your party is level 2 and grow with you.
- Reputation. Fame and infamy with New Vegas factions. Kill enough legionaries and the Legion sends assassins.
- Side quest: Ghost Town Gunfight. From level 3, Ringo finds you. Stand with him against Joe Cobb's gang or side with Cobb, with their real lines and voices.
- Pip-Boy (F7). Action Points, ammo, reputation, quests and Radio New Vegas.
You need Baldur's Gate 3 and Fallout: New Vegas installed on the same PC. Single-player. Works on existing saves and new games; character creation and the nautiloid tutorial play as normal, and the Mojave arrives once you reach the beach.
Good to know
- New Vegas characters and creatures appear on Baldur's Gate 3 bodies (a deathclaw is an owlbear with a deathclaw's name and health), and New Vegas guns use crossbow models.
- This first version has one side quest; more are planned.
- Real-time fights still show Baldur's Gate 3's reaction prompts, and story fights built for turn-based play have not all been checked. F9 switches back if one misbehaves.
