Mario 64 in GTA V

Story mode only. Play Grand Theft Auto V as Super Mario 64's Mario: the real one, running on your own Super Mario 64 ROM through libsm64, on Los Santos' streets, roofs and hills. Press Play, choose Story Mode, and you are Mario.

What you can do

• Mario's own moves, exactly as on the N64: triple jump, long jump, backflip, side flip, wall kick, dive, ground pound, slide kick, ledge grab, swimming.
• Punch people and cars. Cars get dented and shoved; land on someone's head to bounce off it.
• Grab and swing. Stand right behind someone and press the left mouse button. Hold A or D to spin faster and faster, left mouse again to throw them: what Mario does with Bowser's tail.
• Push cars by running against them, and walk into doors to open them.
• Wing cap (1). Jump, press Space once more in the air, and Mario flies over the city. Space again lifts him; W dives, S climbs, A and D steer.
• Metal cap (2). Metal Mario punches, dents and pushes three times as hard, and cars can't hurt him.
• Star power (3). Twenty seconds of rainbow Mario: people he touches go down, cars blow up.
• Mario's power meter: long falls and cars that hit him cost him health.
• F8 switches between Mario and your own character, to drive for example.

Each of 1, 2 and 3 takes its power off again when pressed a second time.

• Grand Theft Auto V Legacy, version 1.0.3889.0.
• Your own US Super Mario 64 ROM. It is not part of this mashup and stays on your PC; Melty finds it for you.

Nothing else to install: no Script Hook V.

How it works

Mario himself is libsm64, the Super Mario 64 decompilation built as a library, reading his animations, model and voice from your ROM. He stands on ground felt from GTA's own world, so he goes wherever you can, and he is drawn with the N64's model and shading inside GTA's scene.
