Helldivers: Shadows of Japan

A Helldiver in AC Shadows' Japan

You are a Helldiver hellpod-dropped into Sengoku-era Japan. Fight off Terminids with HELLDIVERS 2 weapons and stratagems, move through Assassin's Creed Shadows' seasons and war-torn villages, then call the extraction shuttle before it leaves.

Drop, fight, extract

Land by hellpod, destroy every Terminid nest, and reach the extraction zone before the timer runs out. One full mission, played solo.

HELLDIVERS 2 is really in it

• AR-23 Liberator, SG-8 Punisher, P-4 Senator — plus two stratagems called in HD2-style by typing the arrow code: Eagle Airstrike and Orbital Gatling Barrage.
• Its real sound: weapon fire, explosions and Terminid screeches are decoded from the Wwise sound banks inside your own HELLDIVERS 2 install (data/*.stream).
• Three Terminid breeds — Scavenger, Warrior, Hunter.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is really in it

• Its own fonts set every line of on-screen text.
• Its four seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) are read from the game and change the ground, the weather and how fast the Terminids move.
• Its world: mission areas and names come from the game's own DataPC_*.forge locations, over its real splash key art.
• Naoe and Yasuke: your briefing plays a real AC Shadows ability clip of each, named from the game's own files.
• Its stealth toolkit: Eagle Vision (reveals nests), Kunai, Smoke Bomb and Grappling Hook — Naoe's real abilities.

Controls

WASD move · mouse aim · LMB fire (or throw the armed stratagem beacon) · 1/2/3 weapons · R reload · arrow keys type a stratagem code, then click to call it in · E/Q/F/Shift abilities · Space deploy.

Required games

Both are checked before Play, and HELLDIVERS 2 and Assassin's Creed Shadows must be installed. Nothing from either game is downloaded: the mashup reads what it needs from your own copies, and installs nothing into them.
