Granny's house has more monsters in it.
Play Granny Remake as usual — Granny still hunts you on every difficulty she's in — but each round one or two of Phasmophobia's 24 ghost types haunt the house as well, Phasmophobia's ghost-hunting gear is hidden around it like Granny's own keys and tools, and Granny speaks her lines from the original Granny so you can hear where she is.
The ghosts, the gear, the journal paper and Granny's voice are the real models, textures and audio from your own copies of Phasmophobia and Granny, read while Granny Remake runs. Nothing from any of the three games is in the download.
What you do
- Find the gear: EMF Reader, Spirit Box, Thermometer, UV Light, Video Camera, Ghost Writing Book, D.O.T.S Projector, Crucifix, Incense, Salt, Sanity Medication, Firelight and Igniter. You carry one thing at a time, so the hammer or the spirit box is a real choice.
- Collect evidence (EMF 5, spirit box replies, freezing temperatures, fingerprints, ghost orbs, ghost writing, D.O.T.S).
- Press J for your journal. It's a worn book that flips open, freezes the game behind a blur and frees your mouse. One page per category: mark evidence as found or ruled out, pick the ghosts that fit, check your gear, read the rules. Press J again to go back.
- Watch your sanity. When it gets low a ghost hunts: your light flickers, your heart pounds, and it comes for you. Getting caught costs you a day, just like Granny catching you.
The ghosts move like bodies
- They are animated on their own skeletons: they stand and sway, walk, and break into a run when they are fast, with knees, elbows, spine and neck all moving.
- Their faces change: slack at rest, snarling on the move, screaming at a run.
- A hunting ghost has to reach you: it finds a route through the house, opens doors, rattles locked ones and puts loose objects aside.
- The harder Granny's difficulty, the more often they hunt — rarely on Practice, one hunt after another on Extreme.
Granny
She is Granny Remake's own Granny. Her mouth works with every voice line, and she bares her teeth when she sees you.
Pick your modes on Granny's difficulty screen
Four new rows sit under "Map settings", each with an explanation underneath. Click a row to change it.
- Objective: Identify to Escape (the front door stays shut until you name every ghost) / Second Hunter (a ghost hunts on a timer; gear is for surviving) / Side Job (escape as normal, naming is a bonus).
- Haunting: Granny Hears Everything (ghost activity brings her running) / Granny Fears the Ghost (she backs away during hunts).
- Ghosts: One / One or two / Two.
- Phasmophobia ghosts: ON / OFF — off is plain Granny Remake.
Lighting
The house is lit evenly like the original Granny, and the flashlight is still there for dark corners. A House brightness slider in the video settings goes from 0 (Granny Remake's own darkness) to 100.
Keys
Tab sprints and Q crouches (Shift and C no longer do). Lean moved from Q to Left Ctrl. Everything else is as in Granny Remake.
Good to know
- Single player. You need Granny Remake, Phasmophobia and Granny (by Dvloper) installed. Phasmophobia and Granny are only read from disk; they are never started or changed.
- Each ghost type has its real evidence and one signature behaviour.
- The ghosts' movement is made by the mod on their real skeletons; Phasmophobia's own animation clips are not used. Granny's catch scene is Remake's own. Photo camera, sensors, parabolic microphone, head gear and tripod are not in yet.
