Play the Delvekin, dwarves changed by Qud's caves: holds, beasts and lore from a world your own Dwarf Fortress generates.
You play Caves of Qud. Dwarf Fortress builds the world beneath it, and its people came up.
A Dwarf Fortress world under Qud. On your first Play, your own Dwarf Fortress generates a large world with 100 years of history (about 1.5 minutes in a small DF window). Each new Qud game claims its own world.
The Delvekin, a third race. Descendants of that world's dwarves who went down into Qud's caves and were changed there. Play one beside Mutated Human and True Kin: half a mutant's physical mutations, one cybernetics license, dwarven toughness, and a DF labor as your caste (Miner, Mason, Trapper, Animal Trainer, Weaponsmith).
Delvekin holds. The world's great dwarven fortresses and mountain halls stand on Qud's map as Delvekin holds, cut from DF stone: great hall, forge, workshops, temple, archive, stockpile, tomb, with a leader, a trader, smiths, miners and guards. Each hold's attitude follows its civilization's history: some welcome you, some are wary, some are hostile. Find them through lore, as the Delvekin tell you where other holds lie. Their goods are theirs; taking them is theft.
They talk. Delvekin share DF-style feelings and their hold's history from the world's real monarchs, gods, lost fortresses and forgotten beasts.
Beasts of the Fortress. Every forgotten beast the world generated (often 200+), plus its titans, demons and night creatures, is seeded through Qud with its DF name and description. About 550 ordinary DF creatures fill Qud's wilds by DF biome, DF lairs appear with their populations, and underground walls are real DF stone.
Dwarf-made gear. Weapons and armor forged in DF metals, with DF quality levels that change their stats; superior pieces open bleeding wounds and masterwork ones land masterful strikes. Each is signed by a Delvekin maker and engraved with the world's history. Rare named artifacts.
DF labors as Qud skills: Mining, Masonry and Carpentry, Trapping, Animal Training.
Needs: Caves of Qud and Dwarf Fortress (both on Steam). Solo play. First time only: open Mods on Qud's main menu and choose Yes to allow scripting mods (the creatures work without it).
Nothing from either game is included: everything comes from your own installs. Made by Ol Moldy, MIT license, remixes welcome. Caves of Qud by Freehold Games; Dwarf Fortress by Bay 12 Games and Kitfox Games.
