Find a little village. Leave it for a lifetime. Come back to a city.
Ages of Civilization turns Minecraft's villages into living civilizations. Every village you find belongs to a people with its own name, rulers, history and ambitions: Rome, Egypt, Han, the Maya and more, straight from your copy of Civilization VII. And every villager is a person, with a family name, values and a voice of their own from your copy of Dwarf Fortress.
It's still Minecraft. Build, mine, explore, survive. The world just has a story of its own now, and it keeps unfolding whether you take part or not.
A world that lives without you
- Villages grow. Block by block, settlements become towns, cities and capitals, laid out along lamp-lit streets, with homes of many designs built from the wood and stone of their land. Some stay small. Some fade.
- Generations pass. Families have children, elders pass on, and the grandchildren of the people you met live in their homes.
- History is made. Peoples advance from the Tribal Age to the Information Age, trade and ally, crown rulers and hold elections, split in civil war and unite again. The great moments are written in your Chronicle.
- War comes, rarely. Now and then an army in its era's armour marches on a town under its banner, or bandits raid it. Stand with the defenders, or stay out of it.
Your story, your way
- Talk to anyone. Right-click a villager, a soldier or a bandit and a conversation opens: talk, trade, ask about the land, give a gift, pay a toll, call a bluff or challenge someone to a duel. People remember you.
- Earn your place. Trade, help, defend. Swear allegiance at a town's bell, rise to become one of its notables, and one day you may be chosen to rule.
- Or found your own. Plant a banner in the wild and settlers will come.
- Or just wander. Ruins, castles, tombs and shipwrecks hold records of the people who built them and what became of them.
A beautiful, magical world
- Realistic light, water and skies, towering mountains, fantasy biomes and a starlit realm to discover.
- Magic is a lost language waiting to be learned, and town libraries keep its tomes.
- Press H to see every civilization of the world at a glance, framed in Dwarf Fortress's own window style.
Getting started
Press Play and create a new world. Within a minute or so, a small band of settlers arrives nearby to found their town. Watch them build, say hello, and see where history takes you.
What you need
Minecraft: Java Edition and Sid Meier's Civilization VII. Dwarf Fortress (Steam) is recommended: it gives villagers their family names, values and speech. Everything is read from your own installed games; nothing from them is included. Single player.
