Hand any dish to CHEF-B0T, a robot food critic, and get a 0-100 score with a short review.
CHEF-B0T's table: a few seconds after a kitchen loads, a glowing green pad appears on a counter in front of you, with CHEF-B0T standing behind it and a sign saying "CHEF-B0T'S TABLE - put your dish here". Set a plate, pan or food on the glowing pad and CHEF-B0T tastes it as soon as it sits still. A green "PUT YOUR DISH HERE" label marks the pad on screen, an arrow at the edge of the screen points to it when it's out of view, and a reminder in the corner says how to get a dish rated. Want it somewhere else? Look at a free counter and press Shift+G.
Taste key (G): hold a plate, pan, bowl or a single piece of food and press G. CHEF-B0T tastes it and shows a review card.
Served plates are reviewed too: every plate you send out of the serving hatch gets a CHEF-B0T review next to the game's own result.
A real taste model, not luck. The score comes from what is actually on the plate in the game, and most of all from whether the flavours go together like real food:
every pair of ingredients is judged by its flavour notes (meaty, citrus, herbal, chocolate, umami, fruity...), using real food-pairing knowledge: chicken + lemon + garlic + thyme, salmon + soy + ginger, pork + apple or tomato + basil + parmesan score high; chocolate on chicken, banana in a ketchup pasta or fish with chocolate score low, even when perfectly cooked. One real clash spoils a plate;
how tastes play off each other: acid cutting through richness, sweet against salty, sweetness balancing bitterness, harsh sour-and-bitter;
every ingredient's flavour (sweet, salty, sour, bitter, umami, fat, heat, aroma), weighted by its grams;
cooking changes the flavour, not just the texture: a pan-fried, grilled or roasted piece gets a seared crust (roasted, savoury), push it further and it chars (smoky and a bit bitter, which loves a sweet barbecue glaze, pickles or chilli), burn it and it turns bitter and acrid (sugar hides some of that). Boiled food gets no crust. Texture still counts a little: raw chicken, crunchy pasta or dried-out meat lose points;
seasoning soaked into the food: salt at about 1-1.5% of the dish is right, like in real cooking; 4% is inedible;
which ingredients go together (steak + pepper, fish + lemon, tomato + basil) and which clash (fish + chocolate);
hard limits: raw chicken or pork (food safety), uncooked pasta or soap on the plate cap the score.
Covers all 537 ingredients in the game, including the DLC kitchens.
