Point at any road in your Cities: Skylines city and press F8: your Euro Truck Simulator 2 truck rolls out onto your city's own lanes, heading the way your camera faces, and you drive it from the driver's seat.
A real cab around you. You sit behind a dashboard, not floating over the road:
a speedometer and rev counter with moving needles, plus the gear and your fuel on the cluster;
a steering wheel that turns through every bend and swings to full lock at a turnaround;
two side mirrors that really show the road, the traffic and your trailer behind you;
green blinker tell-tales that flash, with a relay tick;
your ETS2 truck's make on the dash.
Your ETS2 controls. Your throttle, brake, blinker, look and camera binds come straight from your ETS2 profile, whether they're keyboard keys or mouse buttons. They work on any keyboard layout, with Num Lock on or off.
Turns by blinker. At each junction the blinker picks the turn: left, right, or straight on with no blinker. It cancels after the turn, just like in ETS2.
Look around. Snap left, centre and right with your ETS2 look keys to check your mirrors, or switch to the chase view with your ETS2 camera keys.
Your actual truck. Keep ETS2 running with your truck parked and the engine on. The cab and the driving then use your real truck: its make and model, gearbox, rpm limit, fuel and engine wear, plus the cargo you're hauling and its mass. The trailer only appears when one is hitched in ETS2.
Playing: press Play and both games start. In ETS2, load your profile, park somewhere safe and leave the engine running. Then switch to your city, point at a road and press F8. Press F8 again to get out.
How it works:
A small ETS2 plugin built on SCS Software's official Telemetry SDK shares your truck's details on your PC.
The Cities: Skylines mod reads those details and your ETS2 binds, then drives one of your city's own cargo trucks along its lanes.
It builds the cab from simple shapes, made in code.
No game files are shipped.
Notes:
Solo, one player.
Without ETS2 running, the truck still drives, using default truck numbers.
Like any Cities: Skylines mod, it turns off Steam achievements for that city.
