You play Resident Evil 7 as Ethan in the Baker house. Fallout 4 comes with you: its Pip-Boy, S.P.E.C.I.A.L., perks, Stimpaks and rads, V.A.T.S. and Diamond City Radio, all read from your own Fallout 4 install while RE7 runs.
- You're S.P.E.C.I.A.L.! The first time you load any RE7 save, you spend 21 points on Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Luck, with Fallout 4's own descriptions.
- Pip-Boy (B): STATUS, S.P.E.C.I.A.L., PERKS, AID, RADIO and DATA tabs. The game pauses while it is open.
- XP and perks: putting down the Molded, Jack and the Old House insects earns XP on Fallout 4's level curve. Each level gives a perk point for one of nine Fallout 4 perks (Big Leagues, Gunslinger, Bloody Mess, Toughness, Lone Wanderer, Life Giver, Rad Resistant, Medic, Action Boy), with their real rank text and numbers.
- Aid and rads: First Aid Meds work as Stimpaks and Herbs as RadAway. Molded and insect hits give rads, which block the top of your health bar until you clear them. Killed Molded sometimes leave a Nuka-Cola.
- V.A.T.S. (Z): time slows; pick a target and body part by hit chance, queue shots with Action Points, fill the critical meter, then fire real RE7 bullets. No targeting through walls.
- Diamond City Radio: songs and static from your Fallout 4 files. N turns the Fallout music on or off any time; the Pip-Boy's RADIO tab has volume and next song.
Single player. You need Resident Evil 7 Biohazard (Steam, PC) and Fallout 4 installed; Fallout 4 doesn't start, and its files are never changed or copied. Melty installs REFramework for you.
Controls (keyboard): B Pip-Boy · Z V.A.T.S. · N radio on/off · arrows, Enter and Backspace in menus and V.A.T.S. · Space uses a full critical meter.
Not in this version: Fallout 4 3D models in RE7 (the Pip-Boy is a screen), gamepad controls.
