Play Tiny Rogues with a friend. The game itself is unchanged: same classes, same floors, same bosses. You just aren't alone in the room any more.
What you get
Two players, one run. One of you presses Play in Melty, the other presses Join. No addresses to type.
Your own class each. Both pick any class you have unlocked, then both press Play. The run starts when you are both ready.
The same dungeon. The run is the host's dungeon for both of you: the same worlds, rooms, enemies and bosses, whatever each of you has unlocked. You see your friend's character and weapon in your room, with their name and hearts.
Shared fights. Damage either of you deals lands on the same enemies, and a kill is a kill for both.
Loot for both. Every drop, reward and shop item is there for each of you: when your friend picks something up or buys it, your copy is still waiting for you.
Move on together. Walking into a door (or taking the floor exit) is a vote. The first one in picks the way and its reward; you both go once you have both done it.
Downed, not dead. If you would die while your friend is still standing, you go down instead and get back up when the room is cleared. If you both go down, the run is over.
Good to know
Both players need the same version of the mod. Melty updates it when you press Play.
The first start takes about a minute longer while the mod loader (BepInEx) prepares the game. It needs an internet connection that one time.
Windows may ask whether Tiny Rogues may use your network the first time. Allow it so a friend can join.
Built for Tiny Rogues 0.2.8.6 on Steam. Two players.
The joiner's run starts a couple of seconds after the host's, once the host's dungeon is rolled.
Door rewards are rolled per player (the game weights them by class), so your doors can show different rewards. Whoever walks in first decides for both.
Enemies that are summoned during a fight (a boss's helpers, totems) are each player's own.
Enemies chase the player in their own game. Your friend's arrows, bullets and other projectiles are shown; beams and melee swings are not drawn yet (their damage still counts).
If you take the floor exit first, your screen stays dark until your friend takes it too.
A friend who joins while you are mid-run plays from your next run.
Playing alone with the mod installed is the normal game.
