Play BioShock 2's Big Daddy in Borderlands 2. Subject Delta takes over Zer0's class slot with his own action skill, three full skill trees and his real drill. The drill, the skill icons, BioShock 2's skill names, the plasmid descriptions and every sound come from your own copy of BioShock 2 Remastered.
The Drill: Subject Delta's own fully upgraded drill (Side Auger, Lubricating Nozzle and Reflector Plate), with its own BioShock 2 textures, replaces Zer0's katana. The bit and Reflector Plate spin, the Side Auger discs turn, and your arm moves aside to make room while the drill is out. Every melee damage bonus in the game makes it hit harder.
Delta's gloves: his armoured gloves and sleeves on your first-person arms, following every gun pose; your left hand sits inside the drill when you swing it. Melty builds the drill and gloves on your PC from your own BioShock 2 and Borderlands 2 files the first time you press Play (a few seconds).
Drill Dash (F): a ground charge that climbs slopes, winds up the drill as you go and slams everything in its path for 4x your drill hit, with +50% melee damage while it runs and a speed blur around the edge of the screen.
Drill tree: Drill Power, Drill Vampire, Sports Boost, Drill Fuel, Re-Fuel, High Quality Fuel, Piercing Blow, New Threads, Reflector Upgrade, HE Fuel, Gravity Well and the Drill Specialist capstone. Drill Fuel builds Fuel over time; the Fuel skills spend it on longer dashes, piercing, reach, a damage shield and explosions.
Plasmids tree: Electro Bolt, Incinerate!, Winter Blast, Insect Swarm, Electro Bolt 2, Incinerate! 2, Winter Blast 2, EVE Link, Elemental Vampire, and the Elemental Storm capstone.
Protector tree: Armored Shell, Bloody Fountain of Youth, Elemental Sponge, Armored Shell 2, Handyman, Final Moments, Little Angel, Stricken, Alpha Series, Proud Parent and the Harvest capstone.
BioShock 2 tonic icons on every Drill and Protector skill, and the skill panel shows each skill's value at your rank and the next.
HUD icons by the experience bar for your stacks and buffs (Counter Violence, Proud Parent, Unstable, Frenzy, Protector's Rage, Fuel, Drill Power and each Fuel skill as it spends Fuel), like Zer0's own.
Plasmids that feel like Rapture: shock arcs between enemies, fire and corrosive insects, and frozen enemies stop dead in their tracks.
BioShock 2 sounds: drill swing, hit and dash, Electro Bolt, Incinerate!, Winter Blast, Insect Swarm, ADAM and the Little Sister rescue.
A Big Daddy's voice: Zer0 goes silent. You groan when shot, burning or shocked, and cry out when you go down or die. Alpha Series roars while a Little Sister begs her Mr. B to protect her.
The little ones: take Little Angel and Little Sisters talk to you, now and then and when you kill, dash, lose your shield, shock or burn. Proud Parent and Harvest feed on it: Harvest's Frenzy blurs your vision inside a bloody border.
You need: Borderlands 2 and BioShock 2 Remastered, both on Steam. No DLC. Without BioShock 2 Remastered, Zer0 stays Zer0 and the game tells you why.
Good to know
Single player in this version.
Start a new Zer0 character: existing Zer0 saves keep their skill points in the same slots, which now hold Big Daddy skills. Disable the mod in the Mods menu to get Zer0 back.
Updating from 0.3.2 or older: respec your Drill tree (from 0.3.1 or older, your Protector tree too). Its skills are new, and old points land in the new skills' slots.
Proud Parent, Reflector Upgrade and Gravity Well are extra skill slots only the mod knows: loading a character with the mod switched off drops their points.
In first person you see Delta's gloves and drill; the third-person body is still Zer0's.
Known glove issues: small gaps and clipping on the tight pistol grip, and dark patches on the left cuff during the drill's backhand swing.
Sound volume: Mods menu, Big Daddy (BioShock 2).
Double-press F9 (within 2 seconds) to max every Big Daddy skill and unlock Drill Dash on your current character. It changes that save; respec to undo. Rebind it in the Mods menu.
What's new in 0.3.4: Delta's real drill
The placeholder drill is gone: you now carry Subject Delta's fully upgraded Alpha Series drill from BioShock 2, with the Side Auger, Lubricating Nozzle and Reflector Plate fitted and its own textures.
The drill bit and Reflector Plate spin on their own (10 turns a second), and the Side Auger's discs turn with them.
Sized and placed to sit on Delta's forearm. Your arm moves left and down while the drill is out so it has room to swing, and eases back when you put it away.
Melty rebuilds the drill from your own BioShock 2 files the first time you press Play after updating.
New in 0.3.3: the Drill tree
Drill Power: on any kill, +5% drill and Drill Dash damage per rank for 8 seconds; kills refresh the timer.
Drill Vampire: drill and Drill Dash hits heal you for 2% of the damage dealt per rank.
Sports Boost: while your equipped shield is at 0, +8% movement speed per rank.
Drill Fuel: gain 1 Fuel every 0.3 seconds, up to 10 per rank; each Fuel gives +0.5% drill and Drill Dash damage.
Re-Fuel: each Fuel gained has a 6% chance per rank to bring one more.
High Quality Fuel: Drill Dash charges 7% farther per rank, for 2 Fuel per rank.
Piercing Blow: for 20 Fuel, Drill Dash charges through enemies; each enemy after the first takes 100% more damage than the one before, and every enemy hit staggers.
New Threads: drill swings and Drill Dash reach 15% farther per rank, for 2 Fuel per rank per swing and 3 per rank per dash.
Reflector Upgrade: for 10 Fuel, Drill Dash blocks all incoming damage.
HE Fuel: drill swings and Drill Dash hits have a 6% chance per rank to explode (5 Fuel) for 10% of the hit per rank, knocking enemies back; never hurts you.
Gravity Well: when struck, a 15% chance to pull in enemies within 4 m per rank, like the Black Hole shield's nova; 5 second cooldown.
Drill Specialist (capstone): -50% gun damage; Drill Dash goes 30% farther with a 4 second base cooldown; +100% drill and Drill Dash damage; all Fuel costs halved.
Fuel skills each pay for their own bonus: without enough Fuel you just get a normal swing or dash.
Also new
Drill Dash no longer brings Zer0's Decepti0n along: no invisibility, vision overlay, enemy highlights, crit markers, EXECUTE prompt or Decepti0n HUD. It ends with the charge, so its cooldown starts sooner.
Drill Dash hits big enemies like the BNK3R.
Bayonets, class mods and relics now boost drill swings, and Drill Dash's damage follows your real drill swing.
HUD icons for stacks and buffs by the experience bar.
Little Angel: the little ones speak up more often (after kills, shocks and burns).
Proud Parent: up to 25 stacks, each 0.4% faster Drill Dash recharge and 0.06% of maximum health per second per rank (same total as before, reached twice as fast).
Harvest: 35% chance of an Unstable stack each time a little one speaks.
A respec clears your stacks.
Freezing never targets bosses, mounted or flying enemies (fixes a crash near the BNK3R).
Drill Dash sounds are a little quieter.
