Minecraft's Steve walks into Aperture Science. He replaces Chell in the Portal 2 single-player campaign, and he brought his pickaxe.
What you get
Steve instead of Chell. A blocky Minecraft Steve with Minecraft-style walking, sneaking and jumping. You'll see him whenever you catch yourself through a portal.
Your own Steve. His skin is read from your own Minecraft: Java Edition, so he looks just like he does in your game.
A Diamond Pickaxe with Unbreaking III in hand from the start of every level. It shimmers with the enchantment glint and never breaks.
Break anything. Turrets, cubes, glass, cameras, monitors, doors, buttons, panels: one swing and it's gone.
Mine the lab block by block. Walls, floors and ceilings crack like Minecraft blocks, and every block you mine leaves a 1x1 hole in the wall, on both sides.
Dig your own doorways. Mine two blocks on top of each other and walk straight through, even through thick walls. Stand on a floor hole to drop through it, or jump into a ceiling hole to climb up through it. Tunnel out of test chambers and explore behind the scenes.
Controls
2: Diamond Pickaxe. 1: Portal Gun.
Click or hold the left mouse button to swing and mine. Two blocks high is a doorway.
Good to know
Single player only: this mashup has no multiplayer. It switches itself off in Portal 2's two-player mode.
You need Minecraft: Java Edition installed on the same PC and played at least once. On the first Play, Melty makes Steve's skin, the pickaxe and the block cracks from your own copy. Nothing from Minecraft is included in the download.
Portal 2 bakes its walls into each level, so holes are drawn into the wall rather than cut out of it: you can't see the room behind through a hole. Walls thicker than about 9 blocks are too deep to dig through.
The 32 newest holes stay open; older ones close up again, and loading a save closes them all.
Breaking something a puzzle needs can leave a level unsolvable. Use Load Last Save if that happens.
