Five clues. An empty mall. Find your own way back.
A solo, untimed runner's scavenger hunt in New Eden Mall, for the original Mirror's Edge (2008).
Follow an on-screen clue to recover five bags in any order: the escalator landing, blue service passage, fan room, unfinished shop and lower atrium. Approach a bag or press Cross/E nearby to collect it. Version 0.1.6 uses the original runner-bag static model and the game's pickup flash and sound. Clues point to the next uncollected bag. Enemies and staged guard models are removed. Keep exploring when the hunt is complete.
The original atrium elevator now serves four floors and can be called repeatedly. Use goes up one floor; crouch + Use goes down. Four maintenance platforms and a short fan bridge let you return through the duct and fan sections. On-screen prompts explain boarding and calling.
Version 0.1.5 fixes the periodic stutter from the mod's full object-table scan by spreading maintenance over small batches and avoiding redundant actor updates. Test mode measures sixty seconds of mod work before running the gameplay checks.
PlayStation controllers use Steam Input's Gamepad template, with a direct SDL-powered Sony fallback when no native XInput pad is available. The creator confirmed PS5 sticks and buttons on the local candidate. Controls: left stick moves, right stick looks, L1 jumps, L2 crouches, and Cross collects a nearby bag or calls/rides a lift. Hold L2 + Cross to go down in the atrium elevator. Xbox pads use LB, LT and A in the corresponding positions. Prompts switch with the active input. Narrow maintenance platforms require centering and crouching. Keyboard controls remain available; saved input settings are not changed.
The complete hunt and walking return to the natural entrance have been verified in the installed game, with all five pickups collected in order and health remaining at 100. That route used normal movement and the game's Use action handler throughout. Separate automated checks cover all four elevator landings, maintenance passengers, enemy removal, streaming and elevator assembly alignment.
The hunt stays within the mall. The adjoining rooftop escape is outside its route. Original fall hazards remain; decorative or unmodeled shops are not converted into playable rooms. Pickup progress lasts for the current session.
Requires your own installed Windows Steam copy of Mirror's Edge (app 17410; tested on build 252134). This mod does not support Mirror's Edge Catalyst. Press Play in Melty to launch the installed game and load the hunt. Close the game before starting another mod session. Launch the game normally for the unmodified campaign. The installer adds the SDL controller runtime and a DirectInput forwarding DLL to the game Binaries folder. It forwards input to Windows and enables the hunt only while the mod launcher is active. Existing game files are not replaced, and campaign checkpoint progress is not saved.
