You play Skyrim. The Imperial Legion, the Stormcloaks and a roaming Uruk Warband each keep a ladder of named captains in all nine holds, with Skyrim's Jarls and generals as their warchiefs and overlords.
The captains' names and epithets are read from your own copy of Middle-earth: Shadow of War. Their voices, the war chants that roar their names, and the Nemesis music are read from your own copy of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Nothing from either game is shipped: the mod finds your Steam installs and reads them while you play.
What you get
- Ambushes. Soon after you load in, a named Uruk captain comes for you with his warband: a banner with his name, rank, strengths and weaknesses, his name chant, a real Mordor taunt, and battle music.
- Nemesis memory. A captain who kills you is promoted and remembers it ("Killed you twice"); a nobody who kills you becomes a new captain; captains you kill may cheat death and come back scarred; captains who escape you grow stronger. Each speaks the matching Mordor line.
- Civil War warbands. Legion, Stormcloak and Uruk ladders in every hold. Each in-game day they duel, kill each other, get promoted, and fresh captains rise.
- Jarls and generals as warchiefs. Elisif, Balgruuf, Ulfric, Tullius and the rest carry Nemesis epithets, strengths and weaknesses that apply to them in the world.
- Your officers. Join the Legion or the Stormcloaks and that side's captains become your officers: they come to your aid, can die and be avenged, and turn traitor when their loyalty runs low.
- Army Screen (F8). Every hold's warchief and ladders, your officers, your nemeses, the news of the war, and a Hunt button to draw a captain to you.
- Share a nemesis. Export a captain to a
.nemesis file and send it to a friend; they import it and your nemesis hunts them in their Skyrim.
Single player.
