** MOD NEEDS TESTING ON DLC MAPS **
Leon S. Kennedy has walked out of Resident Evil 4 and into Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies. You play the whole thing over his right shoulder, the RE4 way: plant your feet, raise the gun, put the red dot on a head and squeeze. Hit a zombie hard enough in the head or legs and it reels, and then it's time for the kick. Bring your own copies of both games: the mod builds Leon from your RE4 install, on your own PC, the first time you play.
Features
- Play as Leon, third person over the right shoulder, just like Resident Evil 4.
- RE4 tank controls. A and D turn him, W and S walk forward and back, and a double tap of S does RE4's quick 180 turn. No jumping, crouching or going prone, and you can walk while aiming but not strafe.
- The laser sight, with RE4's aim sway. Aim and a red beam comes out of the barrel. The aim wanders slightly the way it does in RE4 (taken from RE4's own aiming code), while the camera stays steady.
- Look him over. Standing still, the mouse swings the camera around Leon. Aim, and he turns to wherever the camera is looking.
- RE4's animations for every kind of gun. Handgun, the Broken Butterfly for revolvers (reloaded a round at a time), shotgun and Striker (loaded shell by shell), rifle, Chicago Typewriter, TMP, rocket launcher, and the mine thrower set for the wonder weapons. Every Black Ops gun picks the closest match.
- Knife and grenades the RE4 way. Space plays Leon's knife slash with the knife in his hand, and grenades (Monkey Bombs too) come out in his hand for RE4's wind-up and throw.
- Stagger and kick. A hard hit to a zombie's head or legs makes it stagger. Get close and "Press F to KICK" appears. Leon's roundhouse kills it, can take a limb off and sends the body flying. He can't be hurt mid-kick, and the kick cancels a reload.
- He reacts like Leon. RE4's hit reactions from the front and from behind, his death animation, and his own pain grunts and death scream.
- Leon's head turns to watch zombies that get close, like it does with Ganados.
- More blood on every hit, and RE4's item pickup sound when you buy a wall gun, take one from the Mystery Box or top up your ammo.
- Leon's voice only. The Black Ops characters' lines are muted, so Dempsey doesn't come out of Leon's mouth.
- Straight into the action. The game opens on the zombies map list, with Settings and Quit below it.
- Single player. No co-op or online play.
Maps
The base game has Kino der Toten and "Five". With the Black Ops map packs you also get Ascension, Call of the Dead, Shangri-La and Moon (where Leon puts on the astronaut helmet), plus the World at War remakes Nacht der Untoten, Verrückt, Shi No Numa and Der Riese. The map list shows whichever ones you own.
What you need
- A Windows PC.
- Call of Duty: Black Ops on Steam. Its maps, zombies and weapons all come from your install.
- Resident Evil 4 (2005), Ultimate HD Edition on Steam. Leon's model, animations and voice come from your install.
The first time you play, Melty runs the mod's setup: it builds Leon from your RE4 in a few seconds. Neither game's folder is changed, and the mod doesn't include anything from either game.
